Character experience
Early experience
He was born in Guangxi in 1946. His father was a middle and lower class official of the Kuomintang. He once worked in the organs of Guangxi Province. At the end of 1949, the Kuomintang regime withdrew from the mainland and moved to Taiwan. Some of the hastily retreating Kuomintang military and political personnel went to Myanmar and some to Vietnam. Four year old Ruan Cishan left Guangxi with his father to Hainan, then Vietnam, and then Taiwan. In Taiwan, which was governed by the Kuomintang in the early days, so many organs, units and personnel poured in all of a sudden, causing chaos everywhere. The civil servants of the government have a hard time.
Ruan Cishan has five brothers and sisters. There are many children in his family. His parents support their family by salary and live a very comfortable life. Ruan Cishan knew that his parents had difficulties and wanted to share them since he was a child. From 12 years old in junior high school began to learn to earn money to support themselves. When he was studying in Kaohsiung middle school, the headmaster attached great importance to improving the students' writing ability, and set a system: anyone who wants to contribute outside the school will get a contribution fee, and he can get a prize equal to the contribution fee at the school with the contribution fee sheet. What a great encouragement, Ruan Cishan wrote and contributed as much as he could. Since then, he has earned all his tuition fees by writing manuscripts. But this kind of "system" of double contributions for one manuscript is not available to everyone. Because there are not many people with strong writing ability like Ruan Cishan. Ruan Cishan is not only economically well-off, but also a "little celebrity" in the school from material to spiritual enrichment.
Ruan's father loved reading. His brother and sister-in-law graduated from the Journalism Department of Taiwan University of political science. Ruan had been influenced by news for a long time and set up his ambition to be a journalist. After entering the Department of Journalism at Zhengda, he was among the best in his class. The Journalism Department of Zhengda has two very generous scholarships, one is Chen Bulei scholarship, the other is Chen Bosheng scholarship. These two scholarships in each academic year are all collected by Ruan Cishan.
Growth process
In 1974, 28 year old Ruan Cishan graduated from university. At that time, there were only a dozen or twenty news media in Taiwan Island, full of excessive competition. It's not easy for college graduates to find a job. However, Ruan Cishan, who has excellent achievements, has three jobs waiting for him. He chose two media, Taiwan's central daily and China Broadcasting Corporation. In 1976, Ruan Cishan chose to cross the sea to study in the United States. During his stay in New York, he worked part-time and studied part-time. He tried his best at the world daily in New York and accumulated some experience in running a newspaper.
In 1978, he obtained a master's degree in East Asian Studies from St. John's University.
In 1979, he returned to Taiwan and became the head of the news editing group of China Broadcasting Corporation.
In 1980, he left Taiwan for the United States again and studied in the doctoral program of the Institute of political studies of New York University.
In 1981, the Chinese Association hired 35 year old Ruan Cishan to Los Angeles to set up the Chinese Language International Daily. Later, he became Vice President and general manager of China Daily.
Since 1987, he has decided to become a columnist. At the same time, nine newspapers and periodicals have opened columns for him, and the one with the most contributions is Lianhe Zaobao (Lianhe Zaobao), which has two articles a week. It has been written for more than 20 years. Some people once commented that his column "is not luxurious and ostentatious, but it has the effect of getting to the point and getting rid of the disease with medicine."
At the turn of spring and summer in 2000, Liu Changle invited Ruan Cishan, who has been writing current affairs columns in many Chinese newspapers all over the world for a long time, to guest star in the program "current affairs talk" of Phoenix Satellite TV.
In January 2001, Ruan Cishan became the chief commentator and chief commentator of the information station of Hong Kong Phoenix Satellite TV. And the only stuttering TV host in the world.

Personal life
Ruan Cishan's father, Ruan Zhongqi, and Li Qiongyue's father, Li Yuan, are good friends from the same hometown. Before Ruan Cishan and Li Qiongyue were born, their parents joked that they would give birth to children in the future. If there was a man and a woman, they would get married and start a family. Later, the Ruan and Li families, one in Vietnam and the other in Taiwan, were separated from each other. They thought it was over.
Ruan Cishan and Li Qiongyue did not know each other in their youth. In 1966, Li Qiongyue went to Taipei to study at Normal University. One day, her parents suddenly asked her to visit their old friend Ruan's family in Taipei. So young they met. Li Qiongyue had heard of Ruan Cishan before, because he was a talented person in Kaohsiung High School and was famous in Taipei. From then on, the two young people began to fall in love. When they got married in 1971, their fathers told them that the two families had an appointment to marry each other more than 20 years ago. Surprised, the newlyweds feel very lucky and cherish this rare marriage.
Ruan Cishan thinks that the most proud place in his life is that his family life is very happy. He got along very well with his wife and two sons. Ruan Cishan has a principle that no matter how busy he is, his family must have dinner together for decades, and the atmosphere is very good. Ruan Cishan flies around the world all the year round, but no matter where he goes, when he has a rest, he will call home to his wife or go to the United States to listen to his granddaughter's voice. He said with satisfaction: "so our children can always feel family affection in the process of growing up, which is the only family achievement I can say."

Social evaluation
He has been engaged in journalism for 27 years. He has written current affairs columns for more than 20 years, and then started to talk about current affairs on TV. Ruan Cishan said that when he wrote a column in his early days, he had a strict requirement on himself, that is, the words must be catchy. "Tongue twister is definitely not a good news report. Colloquialism is my consistent style. There is no conflict between TV, column and news writing." However, Liu Changle, President of Phoenix Satellite TV, saw his insight into current political issues and his unique experience of being familiar with the situation in Europe, the United States, the mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong. He also saw his experience as an expert on China issues and tried every means to "dig" him up.
Ruan Cishan, seen on TV by many people, is a playful and angry man
