Hu Yan, female, from Qujing, Yunnan Province, was born in 1966 and joined the army in 1994. He has been a lecturer and head teacher of the English research section of the first Tibetan Middle School Affiliated to Kunming army. He is now the leader of Tibetan middle school.

He has been awarded the title of "honorary worker of running Tibetan classes in the mainland of China" by the Ministry of education, excellent teacher by the National Association of ethnic education, and "backbone teacher of Tibetan classes in the mainland" by the Department of ethnic education of the Ministry of education and the Education Department of Tibet Autonomous Region. He was jointly awarded the honorary title of "national advanced individual in aid education to Tibet" by the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, the State Education Commission, the national development and Reform Commission, the National People's Commission, the Ministry of Finance and the Tibet education department.
