Early experience
Jin Yan, formerly known as Jin Delin, was born in Seoul on April 8, 1910. His father was wanted for participating in the Korean national independence movement. In 1912, he moved with his father to Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province, China. After his father died in 1919, Jin Delin went to Shanghai to join his aunt. Two years later, he moved to Tianjin with his aunt's family and studied in Nankai Middle School. He even wanted to change the name of Jin Delin to "Jin Xun" to show his connection with Lu Xun. Later, because he thought it was not loud enough, he changed it to "flame", meaning full of vigor and enthusiasm like flame. After finishing his middle school career in 1927, a friend pooled money to buy a boat ticket. Jin Yan came to Shanghai alone. He wrote some novels, but he was not hired. Because of his love of movies, he was introduced to Minxin film company, but he only worked as a choreographer, as well as a theater keeper, sleeping on a bench at night. Acting experience

Personal life

Jin Yan's father, Jin bichun, was a Western doctor and the first surgical graduate of Yanshi University. In 1919, he was poisoned by Japanese agents (he died by drinking milk poisoned by Japanese agents).
Jin Yan had seven brothers and sisters, and he was the third. His second brother, Jin Yu, settled in Qiqihar.
