He Luting (July 1903 - April 271999), male, formerly known as he Kai and he Anqing, is a famous contemporary musician and educator from jiulongling, Shaodong, Hunan Province. He was admitted to Shanghai National Conservatory of music in 1931. In his early years, he participated in Hunan peasant movement and Guangzhou Uprising. He has successively served as a teacher of Wuchang art college, chief of music section of star film company, music teacher of propaganda team of Political Department of Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia Shanxi Suiyuan united defense army, head of Yan'an central Orchestra, and head of North China Arts and crafts troupe.
Over the past half century, he Lu Ting has composed three choruses, 24 choruses, nearly 100 songs, six piano pieces, six orchestral pieces, more than ten film music, some Yang opera music and instrumental solo music, and he Lu Ting's selected works on music. He died in Shanghai on April 27, 1999.
Life of the characters
He Luting (1903-1999), also known as he Kai, was born in Shaodong county, Hunan Province (now Shaodong city), vice chairman of China Music Association, President of Shanghai Conservatory of music and musician. He was born in a poor peasant family in Shaoyang in July 1903. The picturesque landscape and beautiful folk songs of his hometown moisten his young soul. He often sings with village children when herding cattle and collecting firewood. In 1912, he entered Baoqing Chengcheng college and taught music and pictures in primary schools after graduation. In 1924, he was admitted to Changsha yueyun middle school as an art major, studying painting and music. He graduated in the autumn of 1926 and stayed in school as a music teacher. In October of the same year, he joined the Communist Party of China, actively participated in the rural revolution and organized a benefit performance for the Northern Expedition army. After Chiang Kai Shek's rebellion and revolution, he took part in the Guangzhou uprising led by the Communist Party of China and engaged in propaganda work. After that, he went to Shanghai via Hong Kong. He was admitted to Shanghai National Conservatory of music in 1931. He took piano and harmony acoustics as an elective course and translated harmony acoustics theory and practice after class. In 1934, he Lvting won the first prize and the second prize of honor respectively for "shepherd boy Piccolo" and "Lullaby" in the competition for Chinese style piano music held by Russian composer chilpin. When the song became famous, the school changed it to public expense. The Commercial Press published his translation. EMI records company made and released records for his award-winning works at home and abroad.
He entered the film industry in 1934. Nie Er introduced him to the star film company as the director of composition, to participate in the left-wing film industry. He composed music for more than 20 films, such as "boatman", "City Scenery", "Shizijie", "angel on the road" and drama "Resurrection" and "Wu Zetian". He created more than 100 songs, such as "song of the boat", "song of carrying the boat", "spring", "parting", "homesickness", "love song" and "autumn water girl", which are well-known and sung. He composed two songs for the film "angel on the road", namely "song of the four seasons" and "singing girl at the end of the earth", which became the classic representative works of his film song creation and progressive films in the 1930s.
After the Anti Japanese war broke out in 1937, He Luting took part in the Anti Japanese national salvation drama team of Shanghai literary and art circles, and went to Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Xi'an and other places to perform to publicize the Anti Japanese war. In Linfen, Shanxi Province, he created the immortal Anti Japanese war song "guerrilla song" under the kerosene lamp, and directed and sang this song at a senior cadre meeting of the Eighth Route Army, which was a great success. From then on, "guerrilla song" spread all over the north and south of the river, inside and outside the great wall of the Anti Japanese battlefield, and became a marching song to encourage the Anti Japanese army and people to fight bravely against the enemy. In June 1938, he went to Wuhan to take part in the work of the Chinese film studio under the third office of the Political Department of the Military Commission with Guo Moruo as director. After the fall of Wuhan, he moved to Chongqing and worked in the music group of China Central Radio Station. At the same time, he was a music teacher of Yucai School. He Luting wrote songs full of fighting enthusiasm, such as "comprehensive anti Japanese War", "going to the battlefield", "brothers holding hands", "protecting hometown", "Chinese children", "victory march" and "returning our rivers and mountains", which inspired the people's Anti Japanese spirit. After the southern Anhui Incident in 1941, he resolutely left Chongqing and arrived at the headquarters of the New Fourth Army in Central China to write songs and teach singing for the officers and men of the New Fourth Army. He was warmly welcomed by Liu Shaoqi and Chen Yi.
In 1943, he Lvting arrived in Yan'an and met Mao Zedong and other CPC leaders. Mao Zedong praised the guerrilla song for its good writing. He Lvting taught in Lu Xun Art College and wrote a series of revolutionary songs. In October 1946, he served as head of the central Orchestra, deputy head of the North China People's cultural and industrial troupe, and vice president of the Central Conservatory of music. Marching forward, the people's Liberation Army, the march of new democracy and the youth of new China have become loud and clear war songs in the people's Liberation War.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he Lvting returned to his alma mater and has been the president of Shanghai Conservatory of music. From the construction of school buildings to teaching equipment, from hiring teachers to enrolling students, he has carefully organized and worked hard. He also founded the secondary school and primary school attached to Shanghai Conservatory of music to train the junior, middle and senior music talents for the country. His music creation also entered a new peak, composing a large number of good songs. At the first plenary session of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, in memory of general Feng Yuxiang, entrusted by Zhou Enlai, he created a piece of sad music named "inverted bead curtain" according to a folk song, which was shocking and touching, and later modified into the commonly used "sad music". He also co wrote the drama Long March, and independently composed the chorus of the Ming Tombs reservoir, the third armed uprising in Shanghai, long live the people's leader, ode to the army flag and other important songs. He summed up his long-term experience in music creation, and wrote "my opinions on the reform of opera music", "on the creation of music", "problems of national music", and published "selected songs of he Lvting", "selected choral songs of he Lvting", "7 orchestral music of he Lvting", "selected papers of he Lvting music", etc. He Luting wrote more than 260 songs in his life. Its beautiful melody and moving notes flow in the hearts of the people and remain in the excellent cultural treasure house of the Chinese nation.
All his life, he worked hard for the cause of the people and sang constantly. He adhered to justice and progress, sang of brightness, truth, goodness and beauty, and devoted all his life to shaping a monument of personality. During the expansion of anti Rightists in the late 1950s, He Luting's outspokenness and awe inspiring righteousness caused long-term trouble. In the cultural revolution, he suffered from prison. In January 1973, Chairman Mao Zedong asked Zhang Chunqiao face to face: what's the matter with He Luting? Don't fix it! This made him come out of prison, but he was still in a difficult situation. In spite of this, he does not seek truth and beauty, and never goes with the flow. He died in Shanghai on April 27, 1999 at the age of 96. He is an outstanding people's musician, famous composer, music educator and music theorist. An elegiac couplet reads: "the music of the flute, the war song, the national spirit, the brilliant movement, the spring and Autumn Annals, the pure heart; the true words, the iron bones, the proud spirits, the noble and upright spirit, the sun and the moon, the national conditions."

The two polyphonic melodies in section a are as elegant as two shepherd boys riding a cow and blowing freely. Section B is lively and happy, and section A's polyphony method is changed to the main tone music accompanied by sound. This piece of music with distinctive musical image and strong Jiangnan style has pioneering significance in the creation of foreign musical instruments (such as piano, violin, etc.) in China.
