Character evaluation
Zhang Ruifang's acting is very simple. When the audience looks at her play, it seems that she doesn't use any acting skills at all, although as soon as she gets the script, she actively enters the role, and the soul of the role is attached to her. In daily life, the audience can also detect the subtle changes of her mental state, and see the shadow of her role in her behavior. Through in-depth life and rehearsal, she cast herself and her character together. The charm of the actor is not through the self, but through the character without reservation. Zhang Ruifang's vivid performance of her role is to overcome her self and transform her self instead of freely expressing her personal feelings. Here, Zhang Ruifang's discussion on the organic integration of actors and roles and the shaping of actors' mental state echoes Stanislavsky's view that actors need to cultivate themselves into tools with strong plasticity, so as to create authentic and credible performances on the stage (Huang Zongying, comprehensive review of literature and Art Studies).
Commemoration of later generations
In 2018, in order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Zhang Ruifang, the third chairman of the Shanghai filmmakers Association, more than 200 photos were selected by the Shanghai Fushouyuan humanities Memorial Hall and compiled into a picture biography of Zhang Ruifang, a century old star on the screen, which shows a panoramic view of Zhang Ruifang's life from four parts: his film career, political work, social activities and family life.
