In 2012, Luning successively eliminated Jones and Murphy in the first round of the wild card competition and the regular competition of the snooker China open, which is regarded as the "dark horse" of the current China open. Then, in the competition on March 28, 2012, Luning lost to Carter 1-5.

Jiaxing division of 2016cbsa Asian city snooker club league has just ended all competitions. Lu Ning won the championship with 4-1 victory over Bo Junjie by virtue of his excellent performance in the final.
