Zhang Mei
Zhang Mei, formerly known as Liu Xinmin, was born in Hecha Township, mizhiqiao, Shaanxi Province in 1919. She joined the revolution in August 1935 and married Lin Biao in 1937. In 1941, she gave birth to her daughter, Lin Xiaolin.
In the winter of 1938, he accompanied Lin Biao to Moscow, the former Soviet Union. In 1942, Lin Biao returned to China, but Zhang Mei stayed in Moscow, and their marriage ended. After that, he married Xu Jiefan, who worked in the Soviet Union.
He used to be the director of the Department of physical therapy in the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University.
Character experience
In August 1935, Zhang Mei took part in the revolution. At the end of August 1937, Lin Biao bid farewell to his newly married wife and went to Luochuan to attend the meeting. Shortly after the Luochuan meeting, he went to the Anti Japanese front line of Shanxi to take part in the famous Pingxingguan campaign.
In the autumn of 1948, after returning to the northeast liberated area, Zhang Mei was arranged by the party organization to study in Shenyang China Medical University. At the beginning of liberation, the delegation of the central Ministry of health visited the Soviet Union, translated by Zhang Meiren. Zhang Mei, who had never been to junior high school or senior high school, overcame many difficulties and finally completed her college education. After graduation, he became a doctor and department director.
Character story
One day in March 1938, Lin Biao took more than ten subordinates, wearing the seized Japanese overcoats, to the Luliang area to open up an anti Japanese base area on horseback. The sentry of Yan Xishan's garrison mistakenly thought it was Japanese cavalry and shot Lin Biao. He may have injured his spinal nerve, leaving him with a life-long autonomic nervous disorder. Lin Biao returned to Yan'an and lived in kangxiao for some time.
In the summer of 1938, the CPC Central Committee sent Lin Biao to the Soviet Union to recuperate. He set out to Lanzhou by car and waited for Zhang Mei there to accompany him to go abroad. Since the Soviet Union's plane to meet Lin Biao had arrived in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, Lin Biao took the plane to the Soviet Union first. At that time, Zhang Mei was already pregnant, and the car bumped all the way to Lanzhou. Her child, who was not yet full-term, had a miscarriage. The child was in poor health and died in less than two months. After burying zaoshang's child in tears, Zhang Mei went to the Soviet Union to reunite with Lin Biao.
After arriving in the Soviet Union, Lin Biao lived in a sanatorium. At the beginning, the relationship between them was ok, but as time went on, family conflicts gradually exposed. During the convalescence, he did not allow Zhang Mei to contact with the outside world, let alone to participate in various activities, only let her accompany him at home. Lin Biao is introverted, while Zhang Mei is lively and has a strong personality. It is difficult for her to endure Lin Biao's suffering as a mental patient. Sometimes the Soviet side invited their husband and wife to attend banquets and dances. Lin Biao preferred to sit alone at home rather than go to the party. Zhang Mei is willing to participate in such activities, but Lin Biao is not happy. On the contrary, Lin Biao's restriction of her freedom stimulated her rebellious psychology, and they became more and more estranged from each other.
Lin Biao's family conflicts became more and more serious, which eventually led to the breakdown of their feelings. Finally, they had to break up in a foreign country and go their separate ways. There are two versions of Zhang Mei's whereabouts: one is that after her divorce from Lin Biao, Zhang Mei did not want to return home at all. Another way of saying is that Lin Biao asked her to study Russian well and work as an interpreter for him in the future. When she came back home from her studies, he would send a telegram to meet her. It is not known which is right or wrong, but it is a fact that Zhang Mei stayed in the Soviet Union.
In the autumn of 1942, Luo Ronghuan went to the Soviet Union for medical treatment. Lin Biao wrote a letter and asked Luo Ronghuan and his wife to take it to Zhang Mei, who was still in the Soviet Union. The content of the letter is roughly that he has another family, and has a son and a daughter. Zhang Mei is advised to choose another mate. All this is what Zhang Mei expected. Soon after, she chose another mate in the Soviet Union, and her relationship with Lin Biao came to an end.
Family situation
Zhang Mei is very beautiful. She is the most outstanding beauty among the eight women's roads in Yan'an. She is recognized as "a flower in Northern Shaanxi". With her high educational level, she was a little intellectual at that time. Lin Biao won this famous flower in northern China with his great prestige and fame.
In the summer of 1937, Lin Biao, then president of the Anti Japanese university, married Zhang Mei in Yan'an, Shaanxi Province, and was Lin Biao's second wife.
In 1941, after her arrival in the Soviet Union, Zhang Mei gave birth to another girl named Lin Xiaolin.
In 1954, Zhang Mei and Xu Jiefan reorganized their families.

In 2005, at the age of 85, Zhang Mei was awarded two medals by the Chinese government and the Russian government to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Second World War.
