Life of the characters
A distinguished family
The Wang family is a famous family in Shanxi Province. They have served as important officials for generations, and have a great influence and high prestige in the local area. Wang Yun is talented and unique. He is deeply loved and appreciated by his superiors. Under their influence and edification, Wang Yun was very energetic since he was a child. He was determined to not only inherit and carry forward the tradition of his father's generation, but also worry about the country, which was beneficial to the society of the Eastern Han Dynasty. In order to achieve this goal, Wang Yunshi always pays attention to the cultivation of his own quality. Although he was born into a wealthy family, he was not infatuated with luxurious life and comfortable enjoyment. Instead, he made full use of the superior environment of his family to read poetry and classics. In his youth, Wang Yun had become a talented man full of money and learning. Besides learning articles and classics, Wang Yun also insisted on practicing martial arts to strengthen his body. He admired Wei Qing and Huo Qubing for their bravery and bearing, as well as their spirit of defending the country to the death. In less than a few years, Wang Yun became an all-round talent who was proficient in both literature and martial arts.
Born into an upper aristocratic family, Wang Yun often followed his parents in and out of officialdom and made friends with many aristocratic celebrities in addition to practicing martial arts. Moreover, Wang Yun is more willing to contact with the lower class people, because he can get closer to life, experience life and accumulate rich experience. For a while, young Wang Yun not only stands out among his peers, but also has a small reputation in Shanxi.
Uphold justice as an official
At the age of 19, Wang Yun was elected a county official. Shortly after taking office, he encountered an extremely complicated and thorny matter: in Jinyang area of Shanxi Province, there was a xiaohuangmen named Zhao Jin. Relying on his master, who was the eunuch in power of the imperial court, he ran roughshod and did whatever he wanted. The common people were frightened by Zhao Jin's obscene power and dared to be angry and speechless. Wang Yun, who was not afraid of tigers when he was born, said angrily to the officials: "the prince is guilty of the same crime as the common people. He is so wicked, corrupt and perverts the law. He will be killed at once." Zhao Jin was immediately arrested, and he was immediately released to Dongshi, beheaded and displayed to the public to comfort the people. When Jinyang people saw that the evil they hated had been eliminated, they all clapped their hands. They also went to Wang Yun's official office one after another to thank Wang Yun, and praised him as a good official who made decisions for the people and was not afraid of violence. Wang Yun experienced the test of world affairs for the first time, and won the praise and support of the public. He was sincerely happy and strengthened his confidence in being an official impartially.
At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, because of the corruption of the imperial court, the phenomenon of the central government and local governments buying officials was very serious. In particular, local bureaucrat power money transactions are very common. In the same county with Wang Yun, there was a scoundrel named Lu fo who was spoiled from childhood. He had neither knowledge nor virtue. Relying on his family's wealth, he bribed Wang Qiu to be an official. Wang Qiu, who was obsessed with money, was an open-minded official. After accepting the bribe from Lu fo, he was given the post of assistant official. Wang Yun was very resentful of this kind of dirty trade. He exposed the ugly behavior of Lu fo in public and argued with Wang Qiu, accusing him of embezzlement, bending the law and practicing favoritism. Wang Qiu became angry and took advantage of his power to capture Wang Yun and put him in prison, ready to kill him at any time. The governor Deng Sheng had heard of Wang Yun's deeds for a long time and admired his talent and character. When he learned that Wang Qiu was going to kill Wang Yun, he immediately rode on a fast horse, went to the prefect's Yamen, bailed Wang Yun, and asked him to be a good driver in his mansion. Wang Yun was very grateful to Deng Sheng for saving his life. At the same time, he was also moved by Deng Sheng's just behavior, so he devoted himself to Deng Sheng's service, worked hard, and was deeply satisfied with Deng Sheng. With Deng Sheng's promotion and promotion, Wang Yun's reputation became more and more famous, which laid the foundation for him to become an official in the imperial court in the future.
Wang Yun's first appearance as an official not only won the admiration and admiration of county officials and local people, but also attracted the attention of the imperial court. In view of his talent and performance, Wang Yun was soon recruited by the three princes of the imperial court at the same time, and took situ Gaodi Zheng as the imperial censor. Wang Yun moved from a local county to the central court, which was a major turning point in his life, and also provided a broad political stage for him to realize his political ambition of being loyal to the country.
In 184 A.D. (the first year of Zhongping), shortly after Wang Yunzheng became the official censor, a massive peasant uprising of the yellow scarf army broke out all over the country. In order to suppress the uprising quickly, the government of the Eastern Han Dynasty selected Wang Yun as the governor of Yuzhou, recruited Shang Shuang, Kong Rong and other famous people as Wang Yun's officers, and led a heavy army to attack the Huangjin army. When Wang Yun first led the army to fight, he fully demonstrated his extraordinary literary and military strategy. In advance, Wang Yunguang extensively solicited the opinions of the officers and soldiers engaged in the war, and designed a careful battle plan; in the process of the battle, Wang Yun personally put on the battle, showed his skills, and completely defeated the yellow scarf army in Yuzhou. After that, Wang Yun and general huangfusong of zuozhonglang and General Zhu of youzhonglang were surrendered to hundreds of thousands of yellow scarf uprising troops. In the process of surrender, Wang Yun searched a letter written by Zhang rang, a guest of Zhongchang, from the peasant army. The letter involved some contents related to the yellow scarf army. Zhang rang was a great Eunuch in power. He was very powerful and favored by the emperor. Wang Yun did not care about the interests. He suspected that Zhang rang had an affair with the yellow scarf army, so he went further and uncovered all the details, and wrote a memorial to the emperor. Emperor Ling of Han Dynasty was shocked and immediately called Zhang rang into the palace. He angrily accused Zhang rang and asked him to explain the actual situation. Zhang rang was always self righteous in the court. He did not expect anyone to expose him in front of the emperor. So he was scared to death when he saw Wang Yun's Memorial, and he kowtowed to apologize. What a cunning and smooth figure Zhang rang was. When he answered the emperor, he did not admit his crime. Instead, he said that Wang Yun was jealous and framed him. He said how loyal he was to his majesty and the imperial court. He had no intention of having an affair with Huang Jinjun and betraying the imperial court. The spirit emperor was deliberately partial to Zhang rang, and was confused by Zhang rang's rhetoric. He thought he was innocent, so he would not be investigated.
After Zhang rang got rid of the crime, he was angry with Wang Yun and wanted to take revenge on him. The next year, Zhang rang finally found an excuse to arrest Wang Yun and put him in prison. Soon, just in time for the amnesty of the imperial court, Wang Yun was released from the crime and returned to his original post as an assassin. However, Zhang rang did not give up. Within ten days, he punished Wang Yun for another "unnecessary" crime, and Wang Yun was jailed again.
be firm and inflexible
Yang Siyun, the eunuch of the king, told you that he would not offend the eunuch for two times. Now you are more or less lucky, life is hard to protect. In order to achieve your ambition, why don't you give in and bear with it? I'm afraid he will not let you go if he is only strong. Please think about it carefully! " Wang Yun's subordinates are also deeply worried about Wang Yun's re imprisonment. They try every means to rescue Wang Yun. When a combative subordinate went to visit Wang Yun in prison, he cried bitterly and urged Wang Yun to admit his mistake and make amends to Zhang rang. He begged him to be lenient, but Wang Yun rebuked him and refused. Subordinates find a cup of wine, angrily said to Wang Yun: "since you are so self-protection, it's better to drink this cup of poisoned wine. Why are you still suffering from others in prison?" However, to the surprise of his subordinates, Wang Yun snatched the wine cup and said harshly, "I am a subject of the emperor. The king has given me a punishment. I should be punished and beheaded in the street according to the royal law. Besides, people in the world should take me as a warning and no longer violate the law to maintain social stability. How can I avoid legal sanctions by drinking poison without permission? You don't have to persuade me any more. I've made up my mind! " With that, he poured the wine on the ground, approached the van and was put in prison again. Since Wang Yun has never apologized to Zhang rang, Zhang rang further exaggerates his so-called crime plot.
Soon, Wang Yun's case was brought to trial. Wang Yun's officials and friends, as well as many officials in the court, were very anxious to stop Zhang rang from framing Wang Yun. General He Jin, Taiwei yuan Kai and situ yangci jointly wrote to the emperor, pleading for Wang Yun, hoping that emperor Hanling could pardon Wang Yun. They wrote in the memorial: "Wang Yun is strict with himself, lenient to others, loyal and sincere to officials, generous and virtuous, and has the style and integrity of a gentleman. In the past, when the emperor mourning for the Duke of Jin Dynasty and the Emperor Xiaowen of the former dynasty could distinguish right from wrong and pardon the Minister for his crimes, could his majesty not follow suit? In this way, Wang Yun was ordered by the imperial court to punish the rebels and pacify the good people. He should have been rewarded for his merits and promoted to the rank of nobility. Was it because of such a trivial matter that he was sentenced to death? I'm afraid your majesty has failed to live up to people's expectations by punishing him so unfairly, and all officials will not accept it. " After reading the memorial, Liu Hong pardoned Wang Yun's death, but he was still in prison and convicted again.
