Yuan rang, Yongzhou Martial Arts (now Xianyang County, Shaanxi Province) people. When Li Xian was the crown prince of the East Palace, he was summoned to pay homage to Si Yilang and soon passed away.
Life of the characters
Yuan rang was born in Yongzhou (now Xianyang County, Shaanxi Province). He refused to transfer because of his mother's illness and did not leave home for decades. After her mother died, she built a hut beside the tomb to watch the funeral. She did not wash her face or comb her hair. She only ate vegetables and drank white water. During the reign of Xianheng, the crown prince supervised the state and ordered to set up a pagoda at his gate. In the early years of Yongchun, the patrol envoy Shangzuo said that Yuan rang's filial piety was very prominent, and he was promoted to the crown prince younei to lead the governor. One year later, when he returned to his hometown, people went to yuanrang to ask him to make a judgment. When Li Xian, the emperor of the Tang Dynasty, was the crown prince of the East Palace, she called in to confer on Si Yilang. When she came to the court to see him, Wu Zetian looked at him and said, "Qing is filial at home and will be loyal to the country. She should help my son with the way of governance." He died soon.
