2023 'China Intangible Cultural Heritage Person of the Year' announced

The results of the selection of the "Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Person of the Year" in 2023 were announced in Beijing on November 15th. The 10 "Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Annual Figures of 2023" are: Zhao Lingyun, a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project Emei Martial Arts at the city level; Ulan, a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project Mongolian Medicine (Zanbaladorji Warm Needle and Fire Needle Therapy) at the national level; Qiao Xiaoguang, former director of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center of the Central Academy of Fine Arts; Ren Xinghang, a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project Jun Porcelain Firing Technique; Li Fuming, a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project Silver Jewelry Forging Technique (Heqing Silver Forging Technique) at the provincial level; and Huangmei Opera, a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project. National representative inheritor Yang Jun Yang Zhijian, the representative inheritor of the Guqin carving technique at the municipal level of Shanghai intangible cultural heritage, Zhang Wennian, the representative inheritor of the Xuanbi making technique at the national level of intangible cultural heritage, Mao Weitao, the representative inheritor of Yue Opera at the national level of intangible cultural heritage, and Pan Lusheng, the chairman of the China Folk Literature and Art Association. 20 people, including Elias Gayiti, have been selected as nominees for the 2023 China Intangible Cultural Heritage Annual List

The "China Intangible Cultural Heritage Annual Person" selection and promotion activity is guided by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, hosted by Guangming Daily, and organized by Guangming Net. It has been held for seven consecutive years and has become an influential brand event in the field of intangible cultural heritage. The activity aims to take stock of the iconic figures who have made outstanding contributions to the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage in the past year, sort out the major events in the field of intangible cultural heritage in the past year, and record the vivid practices of intangible cultural heritage inheritance and development. After strict evaluation by the Guangming Daily Intangible Cultural Heritage Communication Expert Committee and comprehensive online voting, 30 nominated candidates were selected from 100 candidates for the 2023 "China Intangible Cultural Heritage Person of the Year", and 10 iconic figures representing the current achievements of China's intangible cultural heritage protection and development were ultimately produced
