At the graduation ceremony, Xia Deming, a 1998 undergraduate and 2002 doctor of Tsinghua Electrical Engineering Department, was also invited. Instead, he chose to return to his hometown in Northeast China and join northeast power grid company. He has been engaged in dispatching and operation for more than 10 years. Through his study and training in Tsinghua University and his professional post, he grew from an ignorant boy who knew nothing about the power system to an expert in power system production and operation, a national labor model, and won the National May Day Labor Medal and other honors.
