Born in 1990, Zhang Nan's character and living habits have nothing to do with what people often call "post-90s". Huang Guoxing, one of Zhang Nan's teammates in Beijing, recalled: "at that time, everyone was 14 or 15 years old. It was a time when they loved to play and make trouble. We usually like to go shopping and sometimes play games in our room on weekends, but Zhang Nan seldom takes part in recreational activities. His life is basically training dormitory training dormitory. He seldom talks at ordinary times. When we go out to play in the evening, he will practice for himself. "
As teammates said, Zhang Nan was very introverted when he was a child, and his character was a little "stuffy", but when he came across things related to training, he talked more and became stubborn. When Xiao Hui was guiding him, he was often bombarded with questions like "getting to the bottom". It is common for them to discuss a tactical issue for a long time. In the long process of discussion, Xiao Hui was not impatient, but a little pleased: "this child has his own ideas and independent analysis ability. It's hard to have such an opinion at the age of 15. "

More than a year after entering the Beijing team, the training team found that although Zhang Nan was very tall, his movements were very flexible, and he had fast reaction before the net, and he had the ability to predict and awareness of doubles. At that time, whether it was the national team or the Beijing team, the competition in singles was fierce, and Zhang Nan's personal characteristics were very suitable for practicing doubles, so the coaching team transferred him to the doubles group. Xiao Hui said: "although Zhang Nan has not violated the arrangement of the coaching staff, he is still very reluctant.
