Xia Ping's original name is Lu Shaoping. As for the origin of the name, some people say that it was changed from codley shapping, but according to her own opinion, it was changed by Wu Hui, the film director, when she took part in the film in the 1960s. In 1955, she joined the film company and became an actress. Since then, she has been appearing in Cantonese feature films. In 1970, she joined Shaw film making for 13 years. In 1982, she joined TVB to play various supporting roles. Xia Ping has been in the film and television industry for more than 50 years, from young to old. She plays her part in almost all TV dramas. Because of her age, she usually plays the role of mother, while there are more than 200 films, including Cantonese feature films.

Her most familiar image is the mother of Zhongbao Longxing.

Personal life

On the morning of October 25, 2015, Xia Ping accidentally fell down at home. It is reported that her husband Zhang Yun, who was taught singing by sister apple, has been living alone since his death in 1991. She seldom gets in touch with a son and a daughter born to her former husband. In addition, she only asks hourly workers to clean the house on weekdays, so no one knows if she fell down at home. Sister Apple couldn't move after she fell at home until about 8 p.m. on the 25th when TVB artistes department called to say hello to her. Sister Apple said she fell down. Her colleagues immediately called an ambulance to send her to hospital for treatment.

On August 5, 2019, Xia Ping died peacefully at the age of 81.
