Early experience

In 1985, Cao Baoping was admitted to the Department of literature of Beijing Film Academy as a dramatist. In 1989, after graduation, he stayed in school to teach film writing course.

Acting experience

In 1990, he wrote the screenplay goodbye to the sun flag, and the single play isolated island spy blood was produced by Hunan TV station.

In 1991, he wrote a single play for "looking back" produced by the film and Television Department of Beijing Film Studio, and his screenplay "red cotton padded jacket and red cotton padded trousers" was published in "Bayi film", which was awarded the first prize of excellent screenplay award of Bayi film.

In 1993, he was the screenwriter and co director of the eight episode TV series "bandit Chen San"; he was the screenwriter and director of the three episode TV series "brilliant dream" produced by Hunan TV station, which won the second prize of the East China TV Drama Award.

In 1998, he created the screenplay "Flying Leopard", which won the excellent film award of the 6th China Film Huabiao award, and the government's "five ones" project award from 1999 to 2001. In 2005, he was the director and executive producer of 24 episode emotional ethics drama "pregnant in October".

In 2006, the film "glorious anger" participated in the 2006 Berlin Film Festival in Germany; was shortlisted in the competition unit of the 2006 University Film Festival; was shortlisted in the competition unit of the Montreal International Film Festival; was shortlisted in the competition unit of the 9th Shanghai International Film Festival; and won the "special award of the jury" and "my favorite Asian Film Award" of the "Asian Newcomer Award" of the Shanghai International Film Festival . He was shortlisted for the best new director of the 8th Chinese Film Media Award. The film won the "most eye-catching film of college students" in the third college students' Film Festival. In the same year, he filmed 28 episodes of TV series the marriage life of Zuo Wei and Du ye, and served as a screenwriter, director and executive producer.

In September 2008, with the film "Li Mi's conjecture" (formerly known as "Li Mi's encounter"), he won the best director award of the new director unit of the 56th St. Sebastian Film Festival, nominated the best director award of the 27th China Film Golden Rooster Award, and won the "annual award of filmmaker" of the second "Academy Award" of the film and Television Society of China's colleges and universities. He was elected as the director of the year by the expert committee of the China Film Association Top ten excellent domestic films.

In 2009, he co directed Yan'an love with Feng Zili.

In 2010, he filmed the marriage ethics drama "romance to the left, marriage to the right" as a screenwriter, director and executive producer. In November, he participated in the 2010 Tangqi fair of Chinese film and television writers.

In 2011, he filmed the TV drama "return to China" (formerly known as "returnees, returnees"), and served as a screenwriter, director and executive producer.

In June 2016, the director's black humor suspense film "the murderer" was shortlisted in the main competition unit of the 19th Shanghai International Film Festival; on September 24, he won the best film and best screenwriter of the 33rd popular film Hundred Flowers Award for his film "the burning sun"; on October 20, he took part in the 3rd Zhejiang Youth Film Festival held in Hangzhou; on November 1, he took part in the film competition held at UCLA The 7th China US film Summit Forum was awarded the China US film talent award.

On February 11, 2017, he won the best director and best screenwriter of the 2nd China Film Festival in Germany for his film the murderer.

On November 24, 2016, Cao Baoping attended the 13th golden word award ceremony of Literature Department of Beijing Film Academy, which was held in Beijing Film Academy. This is the fourth time that he has served as executive chairman.

On May 5, 2017, together with Tang Wei and Shi Nanshan, he was the judge of the 11th first film festival venture capital meeting, looking for high-quality film scripts.
