Early experience
In 1971, Wang Luoyong left home to study Peking Opera martial arts at a opera school in Shiyan, Hubei Province. Every morning, he practiced his basic skills, such as climbing and rolling, wielding knives and guns. After five years of such a life, he developed solid basic skills of physical performance. At the age of 17, Wang Luoyong went to Wuhan Conservatory of music to major in horn.
In 1981, at the age of 23, Wang Luoyong was admitted to the Shanghai Academy of drama. Compared with his budding alumni sun Chun and Liu Wei, he was not confident. But four years later, in 1985, Wang Luoyong graduated from Shanghai drama academy and also received a Bachelor of Arts degree. His outstanding performance made him stay in school to teach. During his teaching period, Sarina, Guo Donglin and Gao Shuguang were all his students. At an art festival, Wang Luoyong met an American delegation and learned that a play in the United States can often last seven or eight years, or even 30 years, which made him yearn for Broadway stage. In the same year, the school of drama at the University of Louisiana gave Wang Luoyong a $6000 scholarship, and he immediately quit his job to study acting in the United States. But on the fourth day in the United States, he was cancelled his scholarship because of his English pronunciation. After a series of setbacks, Wang Luoyong finally studied in the Department of drama and performance at Boston University.
On December 25, 1986, in order to save one dollar for the subway, Wang Luoyong walked to Broadway and secretly vowed to become the main character in the Broadway play. In May 1989, Wang Luoyong graduated from the theater school of Boston University and obtained a master's degree in literature and art. Wang then taught acting at the University of Wisconsin for six years.
Wang Luoyong has a wide range of artistic fields, including films, TV dramas, dramas and musicals. His identity is also multiple. He is not only a professor, but also an actor, director and screenwriter. In the same year, he played the role of undercover police officer Zhu Yangguang in the 25 episode TV series life and death undercover.
In 2004, he took part in the contemporary romantic drama empty house directed by Chen Guoxing and played a couple with Song Dandan in the play. In the same year, he played Cao Wurong in the film Deng Xiaoping 1928 and was nominated for best supporting actor in the 25th China Golden Rooster film award.
In 2005, with his excellent performance in the TV series "life and death undercover", Wang Luoyong was nominated for the outstanding actor award of the 25th China TV series Feitian award. In 2013, he co starred with Liu Weiwei and Cheng Taishen in the Anti Japanese War TV series northeast Anti Japanese United Army, playing Anti Japanese hero Yang Jingyu.
In 2014, he played a guest role as the director of the office of educated youth in the TV series "back to the city", and he also voiced for foreign actors in the post production stage.
In 2015, he acted in the film "defense of innocence" directed by Dong Ling.
In 2016, he took part in the TV series "chengzhongtang" directed by Lurgi, playing Yinchang.
