Zhao Yonghua was born in Taiwan in 1967. In 1976, he joined the Taipei Christian children's Choir and began to learn vocal music. In 1977, he sang the theme song of Taiwan TV's cartoon drama little angel, and later recorded more than 20 cartoon songs.

After graduating from the Institute of technology in 1988, Zhao Yonghua joined American records and published his first solo album "speak more". In 1993, he transferred to rolling stone records.
