Tao Ran
Tao Ran holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Lanzhou University in 1993, a master of Science degree from Peking University in 1996, a master's degree in economics from the University of Chicago in 1997, and a doctor's degree in economics from the University of Chicago in 2002. He also works part-time in the International Monetary Fund representative office in China. The main research fields are public finance, political economy, economic growth and development. It is devoted to the study of economic transition and economic growth, as well as the relationship between tax, factor flow, income growth and distribution and government regulation in rural China.

Tao Ran is currently professor of School of economics of Renmin University of China, vice president of Hanqing Institute of economics and finance of Renmin University, part-time researcher of urban development and land policy center of Peking University Lincoln Institute, non resident senior researcher of Tsinghua Brookings Public Policy Research Center, foreign policy program of Brookings Institution and senior researcher of long term policy think tank. Tao Ran graduated from the Department of economics, University of Chicago, USA in 2002 and received a doctorate. From 2003 to 2007, he carried out postdoctoral research in Oxford University, UK. The main research fields are political economy in China's economic transition, public finance, rural grassroots governance, floating population and landless farmers in the process of urbanization, and sustainable economic and social development.
