Role experience
In Ba Jin's famous work home, Chen Jianyun is an unobtrusive figure, which has not attracted the attention of the critics for a long time. But it does not mean that Jianyun is an indispensable character in home. He only appears in the seventh, twelfth, sixteenth and twenty seventh chapters of his works, but every time he appears, it is enough to make the reader's heart tremble. Jianyun appears in the seventh chapter, and the writer first writes about his life experience. He is a distant relative of the Gao family. Because his parents died early, he adopted his uncle. After graduating from middle school, he was unable to enter a higher school and made a living as a tutor. He does not live in the lowest level of society, nor does he live in a noble family. He is between the two, and has a certain connection with both: because he is a distant relative of the Gao family, he often has the opportunity to contact this feudal family of officials, and is influenced by the feudalism. It is self-evident that the feudalism has eroded him; because his family is poor and dependent on others, he is close to the lower class people emotionally. The special social status and environment lead to Chen Jianyun's complex personality. When I lost my parents as a child, I experienced the bitterness of losing the warmth of my family. Therefore, he is sentimental, withdrawn and melancholy. He first appeared in Juexin office. When Juexin asked him why his face was always gloomy, he "smile", but who could see that his smile was forced. He said, "maybe it's because of the body, or it's because of the early death of my parents." At this time, "his lips trembled slightly, they seemed to cry, but he did not shed tears." (all the above quotations can be seen in Chapter 7 of home.) Jianyun wants to cry and smile in front of chuexin brothers, but he can't cover up his inner trauma. His "reluctant" and "seemingly crying" smile is the blood from the bottom of his heart. Only in this way, we can see the character of Jianyun, who is lonely and difficult on the vast road of life. Besides, his sympathy for Chueh Hsin's unfortunate marriage, his unreachable love and happiness, his association after listening to Chueh Hui's reading the night before yesterday, his gratitude for other people's humble care and his lament for the future. Such and so on, all incisively and vividly expressed his sentimental, lonely melancholy personality characteristics. For Jianyun, the appearance of Qin is the light in the dark. Only she can bring a little light to life. In the seventh chapter, when Qin just came to Juexin office, he only heard his voice but didn't see anyone. Jianyun knew that Qin was coming. "A glimmer of light swept Jianyun's face," he "looked happy." If you have no special feelings for a person, you will never be so sensitive. In Chapter 27, Jianyun confides to Juemin that he loves Qin and is sick because of Acacia, which is the best proof. Jian Yun's inner love for Qin is strong and pure (of course, it is not only the yearning for the opposite sex, but also the desire for happiness and warmth). However, he is too modest. To him, "modesty" is just a pronoun of "weakness and inferiority". He did not dare to express his feelings, but belittled himself and thought he was unworthy. From the seventh chapter, we can see his delicate feelings: "Qin takes a gentle look at him (Zhijianyun), but immediately drops his eyes away. But he seems to have been blessed once. " Chueh min, Chueh Hui and Qin watched him sigh in the corner of the room. "Jianyun suddenly realized it and buried his head. But he immediately raised his head. He was afraid of a pair of dark eyes and looked timidly at Qin's face. Qin didn't dodge at all, but his eyes immediately fell away again. " It can be seen that driven by inferiority complex, he tried his best to suppress his feelings, so his character became more depressing and melancholy. Under the pressure of the dark society, his heart was distorted. yearning for happiness, but not daring or wanting to fight for it, he will only lament and let fate control him. On the one hand, he had unrealistic dreams, and even yearned for the family status of the Juemin brothers, believing that with status, he could get the piano and happiness (it can be seen that he did not fully understand the root of Juexin's pain, and he did not and could not see the essence of the dark society from Juexin). In Chapter 27, when he expressed his feelings to Juemin, he said: "as long as I change my environment, for example, I am in your position, I will not suffer to such a degree Juemin, I envy you! I often think, I even pray. As long as I can live in your environment and talk to her as you like, I would like to shorten my life span by ten years. " This kind of happiness, only to see the role of family status. It can not be said that it was the result of his contact with the family of feudal officials and being poisoned by feudal thoughts. He never looked at the whole society, just sat in the small circle of his personal life and constantly lamented. This doomed him to find no way out. To sum up, we can see that Jianyun is a deformity of the semi feudal and semi colonial old Chinese society in which the body is not dead but the heart is dead first. It is a typical representative of the intellectual youth of the petty bourgeoisie who wandered at the crossroads of society, did not know where to go, and even was willing to sink. It is not difficult to see that Ba Jin portrays Jianyun with the attitude of "mourning for his misfortune and being angry with him". We should not underestimate Jianyun's position and role in home. It can be said that Jianyun, Juexin and Juehui, Juemin form a sharp contrast in their works. From Jianyun, we can see the shadow of some characters of Chueh Hsin. At the same time, they reflect the rebellious spirit of Chueh Hui and Chueh min. So that we realize: to get happiness and freedom, we must be like Chueh Hui and Chueh min, to fight bravely against the old society. Like Jianyun, he would compromise to the old society in a low voice, be gentle, courteous and thrifty, and eventually be swallowed up by the evil old society. Happiness has nothing to do with weakness. All the people who yearn for happiness and freedom must break through the small circle of individualism, join in the great social struggle, and closely link their cooperation with the society, so as to find a way out and see the light.
