With the platform of literature and art broadcasting, Li Xiyuan devoted himself to his favorite literature and art work. Previously, the literary and art programs broadcast by Anshan radio station were only songs, which was relatively monotonous. In order to enrich the literature and art broadcasting, Li Xiyuan mobilized the city's literature and art lovers and increased the literature and art programs loved by the masses, such as storytelling, Allegro, crosstalk, drum, etc., which also revitalized the Anshan quyi troupe. Li Xiyuan's quyi programs, such as Shandong kuaishu "pick up Lei Feng's car" and kuaishuzhu "grab dynamite", are short, pithy and witty, which are very popular with the audience. At that time, during the construction period of Angang's three major projects, listening to Anshan radio's literary and artistic programs at 6:30 p.m. became the greatest enjoyment of front-line workers. Later, the audience wrote letters hoping to hear a long storytelling. In order to meet the audience's demands, Li Xiyuan decided to launch a series of storytelling columns. So we invited Yang Tianrong, an old artist, to record "the forest and the snow" and other works together. After the broadcast, there was a great response. Until the beginning of the cultural revolution, all literary and artistic programs were stopped, and all literary and artistic programs were decentralized. In 1971, Li Xiyuan worked in Panjin farm for two years and returned to Anshan radio station. Facing the situation of "model opera" monopolizing the art world, he boldly proposed to the leaders of Taiwan to resume the storytelling serials, and restored the storytelling serials, which had been suspended for five years, to the first time in the national broadcasting system. He took the risk to break through the resistance and decided to adopt the novel boiling mountains written by Li Yunde. In 1979, there was no radio station in the country to broadcast traditional storytelling. This idea caused controversy, and there was no way to choose the theme of the work. Just then, Guangming Daily published an article on Yue Fei, a national hero, which fully affirmed that Yue Fei was a patriot and a national hero. Li Xiyuan was deeply inspired, and his heart suddenly brightened: "just record the biography of Yue Fei!" He immediately reported his decision to the leaders and got their support. In order to broadcast the book well, Li Xiyuan selected it several times, and finally decided that Liu Lanfang, a northeast drum actor of the opera troupe, was going to speak the story of Yue Fei. Liu Lanfang, a fellow of Liaoyang, said the new book clearly, fluently and passionately. He was young, quick to accept new things, and had the performance characteristics of a lesbian, which was more refreshing. When the actors are chosen, storytelling plays become the key. At that time, Li Xiyuan and Liu Lanfang had only one old book, the complete biography of Shuoyue, in their hands. Moreover, the complicated plot, old frame and superstitious elements in it made it very difficult to adapt. Li Xiyuan works during the day to find information. After work, he plays with Liu Lanfang and records in the evening, revising while recording. At the beginning, it took hours to record a lecture. Sometimes Liu Lanfang can only come to the radio station to tell a story after completing the performance task, and the recording often goes to midnight. After Liu Lanfang left, Li Xiyuan had to listen and revise the script, often all night long. After working day and night for more than two months, Yue Fei Zhuan was finally recorded and officially broadcast in September 1979. Li Xiyuan began to reform, he put forward a new idea of recording storytelling programs with the theme of modern history, which was recognized by the leaders of the radio station. Li Xiyuan started a new attempt. Since 1965, Li Xiyuan has cooperated with Yang Tianrong, Zhang Hefang, Liu Lanfang, Shan Tianfang, Gong Baosheng, Lian Liru, Chen Lijun, Zhang shaozuo, ye Jinglin, Yang Peiqin, Shi Lianjun, Zhao Weili and others to adapt nearly 200 storytelling books and provide them to more than 100 domestic radio stations and overseas Chinese radio stations. In 1995, Li Xiyuan retired, but he did not retire and was hired back to Anshan people's radio station. After retiring for more than 10 years, he still produced his favorite storytelling program.
