Early experience
After finishing junior high school in Hong Kong, Tang Jili went to Canada in early 1977 and was admitted to miles MacDonnell college in Winnipeg. As a result of childhood to see "Xinglin waishi" and the idea of becoming a doctor, so after graduating from high school, chose medical. However, because the medical department did not accept foreign students, it was recruited into the civil engineering department. Acting experience
At the end of 1979, Tang Jili went to Shao's studio to see his brother-in-law Luo lie perform. Luo lie introduced him to Liu Jialiang. He took Liu Jialiang's younger martial brother Shenxian (Yu Yuanwen) and Xiaohou (Hou Yaozong) as teachers and entered the performing arts circle with martial arts. Since then, Tang Jili has successively worked as a martial arts actor, martial arts stuntman, field reporter, deputy director, producer and screenwriter in Shao brothers film company, Jiahe film company, Hong Kong Television Broadcasting Limited (TVB), Lidi TV (RTV) and many film companies. In 1988, he became the executive director and martial arts director of "angel action 2: Fire Phoenix and dragon" and "angel action 3: the end of the witch".
In 1990, Tang Jili set up his own company to invest and shoot the adventure film "flying dragon in the devil's land", which is his first independent directing work. In the film, Tang Jili has many roles as producer, screenwriter and director. The film was released in 1991, and has won nearly ten million Hong Kong dollars at the box office, attracting the attention of film critics and producers.
In 1991, Jiahe invited Tang Jili to direct the action film "Police Story 3 super police" with an investment of 80 million Hong Kong dollars, starring Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh and Maggie Cheung. The film broke the highest box office records of many Southeast Asian countries and won the best film nomination of the 29th Taiwan Golden Horse awards. Tang Jili won the nomination of best action director, and Jackie Chan won the best man Award for the first time Leading role award.
In 1994, he directed the action movie "Hongfan district" for Jiahe company and also acted as the action director. The film starred Jackie Chan and Anita Mui. The film has successfully entered the mainland film market, and has also set a record of over 100 million box office. In addition, it has become the first Hong Kong produced film to be shown simultaneously in more than 2000 mainstream cinemas in North America by dubbing, breaking the record of the most popular Chinese film in the United States. In 1995, he collaborated with Jackie Chan again and directed the new year action film "Police Story 4: simple task", which was shot in Australia, Russia, Ukraine and Hong Kong. After its release, it set new box office records in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. For this reason, Tang Jili won the 33rd Taiwan Film Golden Horse Award for best action director and the 16th Hong Kong Film Golden Award for best action director.
In 1996, he was invited by Hollywood manager Andrew Morgan to develop in Hollywood. The first western film directed was the family comedy Mr. off line, starring Leslie Nelson. After its release, the film was selected as one of the top ten American "movie guide Award" family films in 1996, and Tang Jili was also recruited as a member of the DGA.
In 1998, he directed and supervised the production of CBS company's TV series "dragon crossing the river". After its release, the audience rating remained high, becoming the first new TV program in the United States in 1999. He won the best new TV Drama Award of the United States by "tvguide Award" in 1998, the most popular best new TV Drama Award by "Viewers Voice Award" and the "most popular Gold Award" by the ninth audience voting award "New album".
In 2000, he returned to Hong Kong to establish Sino US International Film and television entertainment Co., Ltd. In 2005, he supervised the production of Asia's first three-dimensional animation film "Dragon Sword Wonderland"; in September, Tang Jili's mythical love film "myth" was released, with an investment of HK $160 million, starring Jackie Chan, Jin Xishan, Liang Jiahui, etc., and the box office in Asia reached 120 million. Tang Jili was nominated for best action director at the 25th Hong Kong Film Awards and best director at the 28th popular film Hundred Flowers Award.
In April 2008, Tang Jili and Chen Qiuxia jointly invested 17 billion yuan to build the "dream city" in Yunnan. It is expected that the construction of the whole studio will be completed within five years. In December 2009, Tang Jili served as a member of the Judging Committee of the first Macao International Film Festival and chairman of the action film forum.
In 2012, Tang Jili and Jackie Chan cooperated again, supervised Jackie Chan's self directed and self performed action adventure movie "Zodiac", and participated in the script creation. The movie broke the first day box office record of Chinese New Year Movies, and the global ticket market finally reached 840 million yuan.
On July 4, 2013, the domestic historical TV series Jingzhong Yuefei, supervised by Tang Jili, premiered, directed by Ju jueliang and starred by Huang Xiaoming and Lin Xinru. The play won the excellent TV Drama Award at the 10th China Golden Eagle TV Art Festival honor ceremony and the 27th China Golden Eagle Award Ceremony, and won the best TV Drama Award and best director award at 2014 China Hengdian film and Television Festival.
On October 21, 2014, Tang Jili signed a contract to be the chief director of the Sino Indian co production film Kung Fu yoga.

On June 22, 2018, Tang Jili directed "Kung Fu yoga" and won the 2017 smoke-free Film Award; on December 8, Tang Jili attended the 17th China Film Huabiao award ceremony, and his film "Kung Fu yoga" was shortlisted for the "excellent feature film" award of Huabiao award.

Personal life
family
His father, Tang huanting, graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of music, died in Hong Kong in January 1996. My mother is Cantonese.
Tang Jili has six brothers and sisters. Their names are ranked by uncle, Zhong, uncle and Ji. The second brother, Tang Zhongren, lives in Taipei, Taiwan, while the other brothers live overseas. Her sister, Tang Jiali, once a actress of Shao's film company, married martial arts star Luo lie and has two sons. Her second son, Wang Ju, entered the film and television industry in 2005. Her youngest sister, rose, once worked in the jewelry industry and is now a beauty consultant.

Kungfu
Tang Jili practiced martial arts since childhood. He practiced mantis, Xingyi and Yongchun. In 1979, he learned Hongquan from Yu Yuanwen and somersault from Hou Yaozong. Later, he practiced dachengquan under the guidance of Lu Xiudong, President of the Hong Kong Jingwu Association. After that, Wang Yufang and Yu Yongnian learned dachengquan.
