She married Wang Ruixun, the son of Wang Dengping, a former horse trainer, in April 2003 and now has a son and a daughter.

Yang Wanyi used to be the director and school supervisor of an international kindergarten. However, in April 2018, she was found by the school authorities. Since November 2017, she has instructed the staff to pay the tuition and fare to another company in her name, with a total amount of HK $147000 (about RMB 120000). She also changed the name of the company to kindergarten address, misleading parents that the two companies are related.
