Wang Hanlun (1903 - August 17, 1978), born in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, formerly known as Peng Jianqing. In 1923, he appeared in his first work, the story of the orphan saving his ancestors. Wang Hanlun (1903-1978), formerly known as Peng Jianqing, was the first film star of China. She was born in a big feudal family in Suzhou. In her early years, she studied in St. Mary's College of Shanghai missionary girls' school. After his father died, he was betrothed to a bureaucrat surnamed Zhang by his brother and sister-in-law. Soon after, he left him because of his husband's promiscuity with a Japanese woman and worked as a teacher in a primary school in Hongkou, Shanghai. Introduced by Ren Jinping, he joined the star film company in 1923. He played the leading role in such films as the story of the orphan saving his ancestors, the soul of jade pear, the poor girl and a little worker. He was famous for his good performance in tragedy and had a great influence at that time. Early life

Wang Hanlun's father's generation had nothing to do with the imperial examination. He got the post of general manager of Anhui Merchants Group, and later lived in Shanghai. Wang Hanlun had seven brothers and sisters. She was the youngest. She was regarded as the apple of her eye by her father. After coming to Shanghai, she was sent to Shanghai church girls' school, Santa Maria college. When her father died at the age of 16, her brother and sister-in-law refused to let her continue to study. She was arranged by her family to marry a coal mine supervisor surnamed Zhang in Liaoning. After marriage, the couple had a bad relationship, so they divorced and returned to Shanghai. Wang Hanlun taught in Shanghai Hongkou primary school, worked as a staff member in British American tobacco company, and later worked as a full-time English typist in the world sports association. Her brother and sister-in-law were very dissatisfied with Wang Hanlun's divorce, so she had to live in Ganma's house. Later, she worked as a teacher in a primary school in Hongkou, and her salary was very low, so she couldn't make ends meet. In order to get a better income, Jianqing went to learn English typing. Three months later, he was employed as a typist in Siming foreign company.

At that time, a colleague of Siming foreign company, Ren Jinping, was a shareholder of star film company and knew Zhang Shichuan, the director of "Star". At that time, the "Star" was preparing to make the film "save the orphan". She needed to find a female star. Knowing that Peng Jianqing was interested in the film, Ren Jinping told her that since you look good and are good at both Chinese and English, you should go to make the film. Film career

Wang Hanlun is the heroine of Zhang Shichuan's feature film "the orphan saves her ancestors", which is her first work. She played Yu weiru in the film. At that time, she didn't know the theory of performance, and she didn't have acting experience. She just heard that director Zhang Shichuan inspired her to make a real play, turn into a person in the play, and forget herself. While filming the scene of "hearing of her husband's death", Zhang Shichuan said: "here, your husband died, and your only relative suddenly died. But you live in a feudal family with old-fashioned ethics, and the ethics are merciless. You are still young, but you can't remarry. How can you live after that? " Wang Hanlun listened and thought. He was so sad that he cried like his husband had died. The main reason why Wang Hanlun succeeded in playing Yu weiru is that she got rid of the performance formula of civilized drama at that time and tried to make her performance life-oriented; she integrated her life experience into the role, so she acted truly and naturally. Her beautiful appearance, graceful temperament and pitiful appearance have won the sympathy and love of countless audiences. Later, her husband wanted to make up with her again, but she refused. Her husband became angry and falsely accused her of being a rebel. She had to stay away from the world and live in seclusion in the mountains. As a result, she was robbed by robbers and forced into an empty door. Finally, she died in a nunnery. After making three films in the Great Wall, Wang Hanlun didn't get any "high reward". Although he was negotiated by the court, he didn't get any money. Farewell to the film world

Since 1931, Wang Hanlun decided to give up film and go into business. She studied cosmetology under the guidance of Mr. Richard, a French doctor of Cosmetology, and then opened a Hanlun beauty salon, becoming one of the first women to study cosmetology in China. Hanlun beauty salon is located in Xiafei Road (now Huaihai Middle Road) and Hefangkou. After the opening of Hanlun beauty salon, it was often blackmailed by local ruffians and hooligans, but Wang Hanlun insisted on running it.
