Main achievements
Achievements in scientific research
In 2005, Zhang Xiang's research group developed the world's first super lens, demonstrating for the first time the imaging effect that breaks through the diffraction limit of light. In 2007, super lens research breakthrough was selected as the top 100 scientific and technological developments in the world.
In 2008, Zhang Xiang's research group successfully prepared the world's first three-dimensional material with optical negative refractive index, and was selected by time magazine as the top ten scientific and technological discoveries and top 50 annual inventions in 2008. He extended the negative refraction principle of light to acoustics, and realized the acoustic super structural materials and devices with negative elastic modulus for the first time. At the same time, he led the development of plasma lithography technology, and successfully etched nano electronic circuits.
In 2009, the world's first surface plasmon semiconductor laser was developed.
In 2011, the world's smallest ultra wideband high-speed light modulator was developed using single-layer graphene, and the super exciton interaction and giant binding energy in two-dimensional semiconductor materials were discovered through two-photon absorption.
As of 2015, Zhang Xiang has published more than 300 journal papers, including science, nature, Journal of the American Academy of Sciences and physics review express. He has delivered more than 280 keynote speeches, plenary meetings and invited speeches at international conferences and institutions. The following is a list of representative papers:
