Cheng Er, born in August 1976, graduated from the director department of Beijing Film Academy in 1999. He is a male director, screenwriter and editor in mainland China.
In 1999, Cheng Er directed his graduation short film criminals, and acted as the screenwriter, director and editor of the film. In 2006, he directed the black thriller the third man. In 2013, he won the best new director award of the 13th Chinese Film Media Award and the outstanding young Drama Award of the 15th China Film Huabiao award. In 2014, he directed the suspense espionage film "the death of romantic". In April 2017, he won the director of the year award of the 8th China Film Directors Association.
In October 2019, Cheng er's new work "no romance" premiered in the trailer of the third Pingyao International Film Exhibition.

In 1999, Cheng Er filmed the 35mm short film "criminals" and acted as the screenwriter, director and editor of the film. When Cheng ER was a student, he came to the fore with a number of experimental short films.
