Wang Tan, a Chinese Han nationality, was born in Jinan, Shandong Province. He was an official in the middle of the Western Han Dynasty.
Personage introduction
His father, Wang Xin (? - 76 BC), was the official censor and Prime Minister of Liu Fuling, Emperor Zhao of Han Dynasty. In the fifth year of Yuanfeng, Emperor Zhao of the Han Dynasty (76 BC), his father died and he became Marquis of Yichun. After the death of emperor Zhao of the Han Dynasty, Liu He, the king of Changyi (also known as the abandoned emperor of the Han Dynasty), became the emperor of the Han Dynasty. Because of his "participation in the abolition of the king of Changyi and the establishment of emperor Xuandi Liu Xun of Han Dynasty", he made a meritorious contribution and granted 300 additional titles. His son Wang Xian is the father-in-law of the new emperor Wang Mang (Wang Xian's daughter is Wang Mang's original wife, empress Xiaomu).
