Main achievements
Achievements in scientific research
Chen Jun revealed the potential source area of wind dust in Asia by mineralogical and isotopic geochemical methods, and found that the Loess in China and the deep-sea wind dust in the North Pacific have dual source characteristics. Based on the study of element activity in the process of weathering and pedogenesis of deserts and loess in northern China, a geochemical index of wind dust is established to indicate the paleomonsoon climate change, and the important influence of Asian Monsoon on the continental weathering process and global cooling is clearly pointed out. Since 1980s, researches have been carried out on the provenance properties, evolution degree, metallogenic ability and prospecting criteria of tin bearing granites in South China, systematically revealing the metallogenic geochemical process of tin deposits in South China, and proposing the three-stage metallogenic model of the most important primary tin deposits in South China and the prospecting model of Cassiterite sulfide deposits. Chen Jun has published more than 160 papers and 4 monographs. Chen Jun presided over a number of scientific research tasks, including the outstanding youth fund of NSFC, the science fund for innovative research groups of NSFC, the key fund of NSFC, and the second level project of "973 project" of the Ministry of science and technology of the people's Republic of China. Chen Jun has successively won one second prize of National Natural Science Award and five science and technology achievement awards of Ministry of education.
personnel training
Chen Jun has been engaged in the teaching and research of geochemistry for a long time, and has taught many specialized courses of geochemistry. in 2012, he won the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation instructor award, and his doctoral dissertation was "geochemical tracing of East Asian dust source".
Honorary recognition
In December 2013, he was an academician of the Department of Geosciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
