Wang Hongtao, male, was born in March 1955 in Junan, Shandong Province. He graduated from the Chinese Department of Hangzhou University and graduated from the postgraduate course of Zhejiang University, majoring in modern and contemporary Chinese literature. He began to work in December 1970 and joined the Communist Party of China in June 1979.

In April 2009, the provincial Party committee decided that Wang Hongtao would no longer serve as deputy director of Zhejiang Provincial Department of communications and Deputy Secretary of the Party group. in may 2013, chairman and party secretary of Zhejiang Communications Investment Group Co., Ltd.

In January 2015, the Zhejiang provincial Party committee decided to remove Wang Hongtao from the post of chairman and director of Zhejiang Communications Investment Group Co., Ltd. In April 2015, Wang Hongtao was deputy director of Zhejiang science and Technology Education Commission
