Huang Wenjie was born in 1929 in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province. He graduated from the Department of western languages, Peking University in 1953.
In the same year, he joined the Foreign Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, mainly studying Italian political and economic issues. He retired in 1989 and began to translate Italian literature. The main translations are: Dante's Divine Comedy, Svevo's consciousness of Zeno, pratolini's miserable lovers, pirandro's house of granella and other short stories, Moravia's the devil can't save the world, peeking at other people's lovemaking, Dario Foo's don't pay! Don't pay! 》And so on four comedies, Croce's "aesthetics or art and philosophy of language", and so on. In 2006, he was named "senior translator".
