Character evaluation
Xu Jingda is well versed in Chinese and Western learning and has a broad vision. He is good at absorbing the advantages of Western animation, especially Disney's animation. He is also good at using the expression techniques of traditional Chinese art to deify and combine the eastern and Western Animation Art seamlessly, forming his own artistic style (people's online review). among the methods and styles, the most handy and effective one Xu Jingda used is cartoon. The style of his comics can be summarized as follows: simple and plain, vivid and humorous, implicit and meaningful, full of fantastic ideas. At the same time, he does not pursue the craft and twists and turns of the structure, but also highlights that he likes to deepen the theme with the repetition of a single plot. In addition to the pursuit of single plot, he also pursues simplicity and simplicity in character modeling and painting. Simple lines, simple colors and exaggerated shapes together constitute a simple and unadorned aesthetic feeling (review of Journal of Jilin Art College). most of Xu Jingda's cartoons are cartoon style characters. The contemporary cartoon style design makes his films have a modern flavor in the national style. Character modeling is usually combined with the popular art style of the times, while the scene design draws nutrients from traditional culture. In his animation works, the elements of "movement" are often highly summarized and refined (it's like the basic notes in music), and then different feelings are produced through constant repetition and subtle adjustment (it's like different melodies composed of notes), which makes his films full of an orderly rhythmic beauty. In the action, he will be irrelevant to the plot of all the actions deleted, the entire film often only retains a few main actions constitute the plot, all the plot, around these main actions. In his cartoons, he not only pays attention to making the film vivid through the action of characters, but also pays attention to the change of "dynamic" and the contrast between dynamic and static (review of Journal of Beijing Film Academy).
