Character evaluation
In the documentary "the old man", it is precisely because Yang Lina has not received professional training that she can not see any technical means in her works. This kind of shooting method with only long lens and simultaneous sound does not weaken the expressiveness of the work. On the contrary, it makes the life of the old men in the film enter the hearts of the audience, inspiring and moving the whole documentary. Most of her works focus on the elderly and women. She often starts from the micro narrative to record the trivial things in their lives. Whether it's the theme of the elderly or square dance, whether it's the theme of divorce or history, all her documentaries focus on the emotional complaints of herself and others (Zhou Lei review of Hebei University).
