In 2008, Guo Ziyu, Yang Fan, Duan Huangwei, Dong Yufeng and Gao Hanyu formed a "hit-5" group and served as the team leader. On October 20 of the same year, he held a debut press conference with hit-5 in Beijing, thus officially making his debut. In the same year, he launched his first single hit with hit-5. In November of the same year, he participated in the recording of Hunan Satellite TV's variety entertainment program "happy camp" with hit-5.

In May 2009, hit-5 released its first EP album "say you love me again", which included five songs including "loneliness of love" and "I want to go out now". In August of the same year, it formally terminated its contract with the original brokerage company freshmusic. Then, it formally signed a contract with Tianhao Shengshi. In October of the same year, it went to South Korea with hit-5 to participate in the "11th China South Korea Song Festival".

In January 2010, hit-5 held the first concert of hit-5 in Shanghai; in the same year, hit-5 won the best star combination award of "2009 entertainment star list award ceremony"; in June of the same year, hit-5 released its first music album "5 don't love", including nine songs including "love" and "write this song"; in December of the same year, hit-5 went to Korea to participate in the concert Add "the 12th China Korean Song Festival".

In January 2011, hit-5 released its second EP album "running", which included three songs including "love every second" and "afraid of you". In the same year, hit-5 played in the suspense drama "private park" together with hit-5.

In April 2012, he launched hip-hop single "dou" with hit-5; in the same year, he participated in the competition of Oriental satellite TV talent show "sound Asia" with hit-5.

In July 2013, hit-5 released its second music album "are you ok?" which included 10 songs including "love season", "just want to be with you" and so on. In the same year, Guo Ziyu announced his withdrawal from hit-5. In the same year, he co starred in the urban emotional drama "gorgeous office worker" with Zhang Han, Qiu Cixuan and Zhu Xiaotian, playing the role of Hao Hao, a staff member of L & L advertising company.

In 2014, he took part in the competition of Hunan Satellite TV's "the fifth season of top talent show", imitating Wang Leehom and singing the song "tears in the palm of the hand".

In 2015, he co starred with Tang Yan, Hawick Lau, and Yang Rong in the Republic of China emotional drama "thousand thieves", in which he played Lei Ziqian, the son of Lei batian.

On March 31, 2016, he was invited to participate in "China International Fashion Week".

In 2017, the fairy tale TV series "ancient sword fantasy 2", CO starring with Li zhiting, Ying'er, Fu Xinbo, Jiang Wen, Zhang Zhiyao and Shaobing, played the second Prince Li Miao in the play. In the same year, he acted in the TV series "fight against the sky" directed by Yu Rongguang and starred by Wu Lei and Lin Yun.

On November 22, 2020, Guo Ziyu, Shu Yang, Jia Kangxi, Yue Dongfeng and others starred in the martial arts comedy "swordsman unknown" was exclusively broadcast on Tencent video.
