Sports career
Wu Peng chose to swim by accident. When he was five years old, he was overweight. His parents, who were basketball players, wanted to find a sport to help him lose weight. By chance, they met a neighbor whose child of the same age drowned in the park. So without saying a word, mother Wu sent her son to the swimming training class. Since then, Wu Peng has been associated with swimming. At first, Wu Peng used the word "disgust" to describe swimming. Every time the teacher threw him into the water, he struggled and cried. Every day this toss, very tired also choked a lot of water, so every day little Wu Peng cried to give up, but his mother has been insisting. Until 1996, things changed. After winning many awards in succession, Wu Peng, who is only 9 years old, has a sense of achievement, and his attitude towards swimming has changed from disgust to love. After that, Wu Peng didn't need his mother's supervision. His innate athletic talent, combined with his conscious efforts, devoted himself to training, made him like a rocket. At the National Games and Asian Games, he created surprises again and again. Since then, he has successfully entered the national team and become a new hope for China's swimming at a young age, which makes Wu Peng more confident.

In February 2009, Wu Peng had to undergo surgery for a comminuted elbow fracture caused by a wrestling before going to Japan swimming competition. This break lasted for three months. Due to his inability to train during the period of recuperation, Wu Peng weighed five or six Jin more than before and missed the National Games qualifier.

And Wu Peng's influence in the team is very big, he can participate in the world championships is an inspiration to the whole team Yao Zhengjie knows that Wu Peng used to be one of the leaders of the Chinese men's team, and his role is far beyond the field.
