Xu Yiming, senior reporter of Fujian Branch of Xinhua news agency. In April 1949, Jintan was liberated. At that time, Xu Yiming, who was only 11 years old, had been a laborer for four years: he had been a "guide" for blind fortune tellers, a cowherd, a dung collector, and a farmer. One morning, someone suddenly told Xu Yiming, "your father is waiting for you in xiaxinhe. Hurry up!" Xu Yiming, barefooted, ran five miles in the rain and snow, and saw his father who became a PLA man. When he saw his son in rags and thin, he burst into tears.

Xu Yiming (1938 -) is a famous journalist from Jintan, Jiangsu Province. his father, who worked in the county, sent 12-year-old Xu Yiming to wangmuguan primary school. Unexpectedly, in 1952, his father died suddenly and his family was in trouble again. With the help of the village, Xu Yiming insisted on finishing the primary school and passed the examination of Jintan county middle school.

Life of the characters

The leaders of Jintan County knew that he was a descendant of the people's Liberation Army, and his family was poor and orphaned, so they covered all his tuition and living expenses. When graduating from high school, Xu Yiming was admitted to the Journalism Department of Renmin University with a high score. In 1964, Guo Chaoren, a reporter from the Tibet Branch of Xinhua news agency, gave a report to the news department of the National People's Congress. He said: "Tibet is a treasure of news in the snow covered plateau. Young people with aspirations should go there and make great achievements there." Xu Yiming was the first to sign up for the organization and was willing to work in Tibet. Soon, Xu Yiming was assigned to the Tibet Branch of Xinhua news agency as a reporter. the first independent interview was in Honghai Township, Anduo County, northern Tibet, at the foot of Tanggula Mountain at the junction of Qinghai and Tibet, with an altitude of more than 4300 meters. It was a cold winter, Xu Yiming braved more than 40 degrees below zero. His thick leather clothes seemed to be as thin as paper, and his legs were numb with cold. He rode into the boundless snow. It took Xu Yiming nearly a month to write a 3000 word communication and publish it in the people's daily. During his six years in Tibet, he suffered severe tests such as lack of oxygen on the plateau, lack of vegetables all the year round, freezing and cold. These hard lives made him thin and left many chronic diseases. But what we got was more than 400 articles and a large number of pictures and news that were turned into type to reflect the new appearance of Tibet.

In 1970, Xu Yiming was assigned to Fujian branch and successively wrote a number of influential news works, such as "the spirit of Gutian Conference passed down from generation to generation", "a higher level", "sweat for the right to speak", etc., which had a significant impact on the whole country and was praised by the head office. In 1974, the Fujian provincial Party committee and the Fujian military region held a joint meeting to eliminate Lin Biao's pernicious influence in Fujian. As a reporter in the branch office, Xu Yiming wrote more than 100 internal references in eight months, which fully reflected the situation of the meeting and attracted Premier Zhou's attention. In 1975, Premier Zhou Enlai held a reception for the national day with illness. The head office recommended Xu Yiming to attend as a representative of the press. When he got the State Council red and gilded invitation with Premier Zhou's signature, when he listened to Premier Zhou Enlai's last National Day speech, and when he was infected by the participants' concern for the fate of the country, Xu Yiming was deeply aware of the professional concept and sacred responsibility of a journalist.

Personal reflection

In Fujian, Li Qinglin once wrote to Chairman Mao to reflect the problems of the educated youth. Chairman Mao sent him 300 yuan to make up for the lack of rice. However, after Jiang Qing's interview, Li Qinglin got together with the rebels in Fujian, often causing trouble and interfering with the normal work of the local people, publicizing that "I have steel in my back, wireless on my head and password in my pocket (the telephone number Jiang Qing gave him)". Leaders of the provincial Party committee hope that Xinhua news agency will reflect this situation to the central government. On the basis of careful investigation, Xu Yiming wrote an internal reference to Li Qinglin's realistic performance. Almost at the same time, a reporter of the people's daily also wrote about the internal reference, which was arranged for Li Qinglin to evaluate his merits. Both of the internal references were sent to Yao Wenyuan. Yao instructed to organize an investigation on the two internal references. The central investigation team Yao sent to set the tone early and denied Xu Yiming's internal references one by one, which forced Xu into a dangerous situation. In order to protect Xu Yiming, the head office specially seconded Xu Yiming to Beijing, temporarily avoiding the limelight, until the gang of four was smashed, Li Qinglin was isolated and censored, Xu Yiming returned from Beijing to work in Fujian.

Achievements and honors

Comrade Xu Yiming was very concerned about the sufferings of the masses. He went deep into the border and poor areas of the old and young, wrote a large number of investigation reports, and gave advice and suggestions to the Party Central Committee and the provincial Party Committee on the problem of food and clothing for the children who were out of school in mountainous areas. Dongshan County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, is located between Xiamen and Shantou. There has been no customs for a long time. All kinds of fruits, vegetables and seafood have to be exported to Xiamen and Shantou. Due to the long distance and transportation difficulties, many fresh products decayed on the way and poured into the sea for nothing. After understanding this situation, Xu Yiming quickly wrote a report to the Central Committee, and the leaders of the Central Committee soon gave instructions. Within half a month, Dongshan Customs was established, which did a good job for local farmers and fishermen. Xu Yiming is the president of the branch, but he always regards himself as the "chief reporter". Every year, he insists on writing 80 or 90 articles and publishing hundreds of news photos. The number of articles he publishes is higher than that of reporters, and every year his works win awards. Over the past 30 years, he has personally published more than 3000 articles, including thousands of internal references. In addition, he sent more than 1000 news photos, and the Fujian Federation of literary and art circles held an exhibition of Xu Yiming's photographic works for him.
