Tang Dynasty Band, founded in 1988, is a heavy metal rock band in mainland China.

Early experience
In 1988, Guo Yiguang, a Chinese American, came to Beijing as an overseas student, accompanied by Sarpo, an alumnus of Berkeley University in California. During that time, they met Ding Wu and Zhang Ju, two rock youths. Because of their respect for the culture of the Tang Dynasty, Guo Yiguang named the band "Tang Dynasty". In June 1989, Guo Yiguang and Sarpo returned to the United States for some reason, and then new guitarist Liu Yijun joined.
