Interpretation of allusions
According to legend, the God in charge of horses in the sky is called bole. In the world, people who are good at distinguishing horses are also called bole.
The first person to be called Bole was Sun Yang. He was born in the spring and Autumn period. Because of his excellent research on horses, people forget his original name and call him bole, which continues to this day.
Once, Bole was entrusted by the king of Chu to buy a horse that could travel thousands of miles every day. Bole explained to the king of Chu that a thousand li horse is rare, so it's not easy to find it. He needs to visit all parts of the country. Please don't worry. He will try his best to do it well.
Bole has been to several countries. Even yanzhao, which is famous for its horses, has been looking for them carefully. After a lot of hard work, he still hasn't found a good horse. One day, Bole returned from the state of Qi. On the road, he saw a horse pulling a salt cart, struggling on a steep slope. The horse was so tired that every step was very difficult. Bole has always been close to the horse, so he can't help walking to it. When Bole came near him, he suddenly began to cry out. Bole immediately judged from his voice that it was a rare horse.
Bole said to the driver, "this horse can't compete with any other horse for galloping in the battlefield, but it's not as good as an ordinary horse for pulling a cart. You'd better sell it to me. "
The driver thinks Bole is a big fool. He thinks the horse is too ordinary. He doesn't have the strength to pull the cart. He eats too much and is skinny. He agrees without hesitation. Bole leads a thousand li horse to Chu. Bole led the horse to the king of Chu palace, patted the horse on the neck and said, "I've found a good master for you." The Qianlima, as if he understood Bole's meaning, raised his front hooves and shook the ground to a gurgling sound. His neck hissed and his voice was as loud as a big bell rock and went up to the sky. The king of Chu heard the horse hissing and went out of the palace. Bole pointed to the horse and said, "king, I've brought you Qianlima. Please watch carefully."
As soon as the king of Chu saw that Bole's horse was so thin that he thought Bole was fooling him. He was a little unhappy and said, "I believe you can see the horse before you buy it. But what kind of horse do you buy? It's very difficult for the horse to walk. Can you go to the battlefield?"
Bole said: "it's really a thousand li horse, but it looks very thin after pulling for a period of time and not being well fed. As long as you feed carefully, you will recover your physical strength within half a month. "
On hearing this, the king of Chu was a little suspicious, so he ordered the driver to do his best to feed the horse. Sure enough, the horse became strong and handsome. The king of Chu stepped on his horse and raised his whip, but he felt the wind in his ears. He had already run a hundred miles away. Later, Qianlima made a lot of contributions for the king of Chu. The king of Chu had more respect for bole.
Historical story
praising those who are good at discovering talents
Bole
(about 680-610 BC), formerly known as Sun Yang, was born in the state of Gao (now Chengwu County, Heze City, Shandong Province) in the middle of the spring and Autumn period. In the process of making the country rich and the army strong, he made great contributions as a prime minister. He was trusted by Duke mu of Qin and was named "general Bole". Bole later summed up his life experience and wrote the first book of Xiangma studies in Chinese history, Bole Xiangma Jing.
In the spring and Autumn period, with the development of productive forces and military needs, the role of horse has become very prominent. At that time, people had divided horses into six categories, namely breeding horse (for breeding), military horse (for military use), Qi horse (for guard of honor), Dao horse (for post), field horse (for hunting), and horse (for miscellaneous service), so horse raising and horse matching became an important science. Under such historical conditions, Sun Yang chose Xiangma as his lifelong career. When Sun Yang was engaged in the profession of Xiangma, he had no experience and works of Xiangma study to draw lessons from. He could only find the law by comparative exploration and deep thinking. Sun Yang is very diligent in learning to match horses. "Master of Lu's spring and Autumn Annals" says: "Sun Yang learns to match horses, and what he sees is nothing but horses. He is sincere about horses."
Sun Yang, who had little ambition, realized that it was difficult for Gao state to make a difference on the narrow ground, so he left his hometown. After going through various countries, he finally left Tongguan in the West and reached the state of Qin, becoming a minister of Duke mu of Qin. At that time, the economic development of Qin state was mainly animal husbandry, with more horses. Especially in order to fight against the fierce Knights of the northern herdsmen, the Qin people set up their own cavalry, so they attached great importance to raising horses and choosing good horses.
Sun Yang made great contributions to the prosperity and strength of the Qin State and won the trust of the Duke of Qin Mu for his outstanding achievements. He was named "general Bole" by the Duke of Qin Mu. Bole did his duty well in his work. In addition to the work of horse recommendation, he also recommended jiufanggao to the state of Qin.
After years of practice and long-term research, Bole has made a systematic summary and arrangement after obtaining rich experience in Xiangma. After searching for materials and deliberating over and over again, he finally wrote the first book of Xiangma studies in the history of our country, Bole Xiangma Jing. There are both pictures and texts in the book. Bole Xiangma Jing has been regarded as a classic by Xiangma people for a long time, and has a great influence in Sui and Tang Dynasties. Although it was lost later, the clues can still be seen in many related documents: the new Tang Dynasty · Yiwenzhi contains a volume of Bole Xiangma Jing; the records of chaoyejinzai written by Zhang Zhuo in the middle of Tang Dynasty, bolezi written by Zhang Dingsi in the Ming Dynasty and Yilin felling mountain written by Yang Shengan are almost the same.
Yu Chaoyang
There is a ridge in Beimang mountain, which is called Taiji ridge. There is a lake under the ridge, which is called bolewa. It is under the jurisdiction of Chaoyang town in Mengjin County. It is said that this place is the place where Bole lives in seclusion.
Since ancient times, it is said that Bole is a master of Xiangma. Horses used for riding, fighting and farming are domesticated by wild horses. During the period of the five emperors, the technology of horse drawn chariot had been invented. Through the Xia, Shang and Western Zhou dynasties, China used the military array formed by horse drawn chariot to frustrate countless foreign invasions, creating the history of changing dynasties for many times. The system of car driving was also increasingly perfect, and the regulation of car and the number of horse driving became the symbol of rank and identity. The emperor's nobles attached great importance to the quality of horses. King Mu of Zhou got eight horses, all of which were made by Xirong. He set up the stables of Tianxian to keep them, the inner stables and the outer stables to keep the tribute horses. In the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, the princes fought for supremacy, and the great powers were in power. They all made great efforts to show their military prowess and widely selected good horses to serve the army. Master Xiangma was respected by the princes. Bole is one of the best.
Bole, a declining aristocrat of Jin, was skilled in the art of Xiangma. Seeing the chaos of Jin, he crossed the river into Luo and lived in seclusion in Taiji mountain of Beimang mountain. At that time, Guiguzi was hidden in Yunchu, and Mozi was hidden in Daimei.
One day, Bole saw a horse pulling a salt cart up the mountain. His horse was thin and weak. His hooves were stretched and his knees were broken. Bole was so surprised that he knew that it was a thousand li horse named Qiji. He immediately took off his clothes and put it on. The horse raised its head and roared, like the sound of gold and stone. Bole bought the horse and raised it carefully. A year later, the horse was like a dragon in shape, shining in color and burning in eyes. Qi and Qin sent envoys to buy it with gold. Bole declined and gave it to Mozi. Mozi rode this horse over the mountains, like walking on the ground, and the world knew Bole was a good horse's bosom friend.
The king of Zhou repeatedly asked Bole to match horses. Bole selected four thousand li horses for him. The king of Zhou divided the four horses into one shaft to drive the emperor's car. The king of Zhou ordered the emperor to whip the horse, but the four horses roared and the car couldn't go. The king of Zhou was so angry that he called Bole to Luoyi and blamed him for his mistake. Bole said with a smile: "all four horses are chariots, but the king's ruler is not good at chariot. The chariot needs to choose different grades of horses to drive a chariot. The chariot is fast and stable with the chariot leading by the chariot and the middle and lower class horses. For example, in governing the country, ministers should have high moral character and ability, and put them in the right position. Only when they complement each other and work together can their country be governed in a great way. " The king of Zhou ordered the emperor to choose a Qianli horse to lead the yuan and match it with three ordinary horses according to Bole's method. As expected, it was very convenient to control. The king of Zhou Dayue wanted to hire Bole as an official, but Bole declined.
Su Qin, Guiguzi's disciple, failed to make an official appeal to the Qin Dynasty. He wanted to return to the East, so he bought a Qin horse with the rest of his money and sold it at a high price. After arriving at the horse market in Luoyang, no one paid attention to it for three consecutive days. So Su Qin went to Beimang mountain to find bole. Bole saw that although the horse was not a BMW, it was also a rare horse, so he wanted to help. The next day, Bole came to the horse market and circled around Su Qin and the horse. After a thousand paces away, he looked back at the horse twice in a row. When many horse buyers saw him, they argued to buy the horse. Su Qin sold the horse for ten times the price.
Pang Juan, another disciple of GUI GuZi, had heard of Bole's great name. On Bole's birthday, GUI GuZi brought Pang Juan to celebrate his birthday. At this time, Bole's eldest disciple ate puffer fish and died. This disciple followed Bole since he was a child. His master and apprentice were like a father and son. Bole was not sad to see his disciple die. Pang Juan asked why, Bole said: "puffer fish are poisonous, which is known to the world. The beauty of its taste is no other food. I have advised him many times not to be greedy for food and bring about death. However, he did not listen to me. In the past few times, he fished puffer fish, steamed them and ate them. Fortunately, he did not encounter any poison
