Introduction to Xianzi dance (Batang Xianzi dance)
Applicant: Batang County, Sichuan Province
Xianzi, also known as "Xie", "Ye" and "Baye", is a unique Tibetan huqin, which is usually played by men. Xianzi dance, also known as "Xianzi", is a comprehensive Tibetan song and dance art that integrates song, dance and music with the accompaniment of instrument Xianzi. Xianzi dance is distributed in eastern Tibet, Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai and other Tibetan areas. During the performance, men pull strings and women dance colorful sleeves. With the change of string rhythm, the singing and dancing styles are varied. Most of the lyrics of Xianzi are welcome, meeting, praise, affection, farewell and wish; there are many tunes, rich lyrics and changeable dance steps. During the dance, the male and female dance teams form a half circle, sometimes gather round, sometimes disperse, and sing and dance; men's dancing posture focuses on dancing boots and stamping feet, showing the beauty of bold and bold; women highlight the beauty of long sleeves stretching gently.
"Xianzi" is called "gaxie" in Tibetan, also known as "Xie", "Ye", "Baye" and so on, which means circle dance and belongs to one of the three major Tibetan dances. It is popular in eastern Tibet and Tibetan inhabited areas in Yunnan, Sichuan and Qinghai, with Batang Xianzi in Sichuan being the most famous. Batang County is located in the junction of Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet. In ancient times, it belonged to the land of the White Wolf state. The "White Wolf song" of the White Wolf state is a ceremonial song and dance integrating poetry, music and dance. Batang Xianzi is a legacy of its later generations. After thousands of years of development, it has become a popular folk song and dance among Tibetan people.
Batang Xianzi is a beautiful and lyrical Tibetan dance with the characteristics of "good at dancing with long sleeves". During the performance, several men with string instrument "biwang" (huqin) played the lead dance in front of the team. The rest of the dancers sang and danced with them.
"Three steps, one lift, one step, one lean" is the basic rhythm characteristics of Batang Xianzi dance. The movements including chest, shaking knees and long sleeves, such as winding, lifting, lifting and covering, form different general regional dance characteristics. During the festive season, people gather in "Linka" (forest open space) or Bazi to dance string dance, regardless of the number of men and women. String music is generally divided into three parts: Prelude, interlude and epilogue. The music is soft but firm, beautiful and lyrical, and the rhythm is full of dancing.
Batang Xianzi is the crystallization of the wisdom of the Batang people. Batang Xianzi dance is rich in national culture and reflects strong national customs, which has high academic and artistic value. In May 2000, the Ministry of culture officially named Batang County as "the hometown of Chinese folk art". With thousands of tracks, Batang Xianzi has become the biggest treasure of Tibetan folk music. It is the best preserved "living fossil" of Tibetan music. Its music and lyrics have penetrated into other Tibetan literature and art. The protection of Batang Xianzi is of great significance to the protection of Tibetan song and dance art and the study of Tibetan culture.
