Applicant: Chinese Academy of traditional Chinese Medicine
Under the guidance of the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Chinese medicine preparations are made from traditional Chinese medicine with certain specifications, which can be directly used for disease prevention and treatment. The most representative traditional dosage forms are pill, powder, ointment and pill. For thousands of years, traditional Chinese medicine preparation has accumulated rich experience and formed a unique preparation technology in the medical practice of ancient physicians, which is an important part of the treasure house of traditional Chinese medicine.
As far back as the time of Xia Yu, the ancestors discovered the function of wine by making wine, made it into medicinal wine, and discovered koji at the same time. By Shang Dynasty, decoction had been widely used. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, the pharmaceutical theory and preparation rules had been recognized, and it was pointed out that "the properties of drugs include those suitable for pills, those suitable for dispersing, those suitable for frying in water, those suitable for wine stains, those suitable for both one and another, and those not suitable for liquor and soup, which should not be violated according to the properties of drugs.". It is emphasized that the dosage form should be selected according to the drug properties. On the basis of Tang, Wan, San, Gao and Jiu, Zhang Zhongjing created more than ten kinds of preparations, such as sedative, conductive, lotion, ear drops, syrup and organ preparations. Moreover, the preparation method is complete, and the usage, dosage and indications are clear. In the Jin Dynasty, Gehong created pills made from the adhesive force of drugs, and lead paste, wax pill, concentrated pill, ingot, strip, moxibustion and other dosage forms. Pill coating was invented in the Jin and Yuan Dynasties, and cinnabar was used in the Ming Dynasty. Li Shizhen was a great master in Ming Dynasty. He summarized the methods of drug preparation before the 16th century and recorded more than 40 kinds of drug dosage forms.
With the progress of modern science and technology, new dosage forms, new processes and new technologies of traditional Chinese medicine are constantly emerging, which enrich the dosage forms of traditional Chinese medicine. However, the traditional preparation technology has been challenged and impacted unprecedentedly. In addition to decoction is still the first choice of TCM clinical dosage forms, "pills, powders and ointments" are still widely used. Some traditional dosage forms and technologies have been lost or are being eliminated, including some traditional technologies. Therefore, it is necessary to protect them in order to realize inheritance and development.
