Brief introduction of Yue Kiln celadon firing technology:
Applicant: Cixi City, Zhejiang Province
Yue celadon was first fired in the Eastern Han Dynasty. The evolution from primitive celadon to mature celadon was completed in the dragon kiln of Yue Kiln. Therefore, Shanglinhu Yue celadon is also known as "mother porcelain".
Yue Kiln is one of the most famous kilns in China. It occupies a certain position in China's early porcelain history because of its exquisite and unique celadon products. Yue Kiln porcelain technology level, decoration technology and modeling level are extremely mature, become the object of other porcelain imitation and introduction.
From Han Dynasty to Song Dynasty, the modeling and decoration technology of Yue Kiln was also a process of continuous evolution and progress. In the Han Dynasty (the early period), the modeling and decoration of Yue Kiln were mostly wheel molding, and the decoration techniques were mainly patting, printing and kneading. The modeling and decoration mainly imitated bronze ware and early pottery. During the Three Kingdoms, the two Jin Dynasties and the northern and Southern Dynasties (development period), the molding methods were diversified, mainly including wheel making, kneading and molding. From Tang Dynasty to Northern Song Dynasty (prosperous period) is the peak period of Yue Kiln development. Due to the influence of Buddhism, gold and silver ware, and jade ware, the modeling and decoration of Yue Kiln become more and more delicate and exquisite. In this period, the modeling is dignified and dignified, and the glaze color is moist and elegant. It has the reputation of "Qianfeng green color" and "ice like jade". At the same time, the exquisite "secret color porcelain" of Yue Kiln also appeared. From the mid Northern Song Dynasty to the early Southern Song Dynasty (declining period), the modeling and decoration followed the style of the Tang Dynasty, but it was not advanced in technology. In the late Qing Dynasty, sun's firing of celadon vessels of Yue Kiln around Shanglin lake stopped in the Republic of China due to war.
Today, Cixi City has established Cixi Yue Kiln celadon Co., Ltd., which continues to make Yue Kiln celadon around Shanglin lake in Cixi City, focusing on Modeling and glaze decoration technology, continuing the Yue Kiln celadon culture thousands of years ago.
