Chinese national musical instruments have a long history and are closely related to the cultural life of people of all ethnic groups. They are an important part of Chinese traditional culture. These musical instruments are simple and beautiful in shape, reasonable in structure, exquisite in workmanship and pure in timbre, which are loved by music lovers of all ages. From ancient times to the present, all folk festivals, weddings and funerals, God greeting contests, or important political, military and religious activities held by the court or the government have played national musical instruments. The production technology of national musical instruments has become an important traditional handicraft in China, which has been handed down till now and has far-reaching influence.
There are many kinds of Chinese national musical instruments, which are well-known at home and abroad. Among them, the eldest son's Xiangtong musical instrument, Korean national musical instrument, Suzhou National musical instrument, Caifu American drum and Uygur national musical instrument have their own characteristics.
Suzhou has a long history of making musical instruments, which can be traced back to the spring and Autumn period. In the process of thousands of years of development and inheritance, skillful craftsmen constantly improve their skills and eventually make them famous throughout the country. There are many kinds of musical instruments made in Suzhou, among which erhu, Ruan, guzheng, pipa, konghou and Bianzhong are the representatives. A number of national musical instruments named after "Su", such as Su flute, Su Xiao, Su Gong and Su drum, have Suzhou regional characteristics. These musical instruments are famous for their beautiful and concise shape, reasonable structure, exquisite workmanship and sweet and pure timbre. Suzhou's national musical instruments are highly skilled. The completion of a musical instrument needs to go through a number of links, such as cutting, batching, woodworking, carving, lacquering, inlaying, and tuning. The manufacturing of percussion instruments (Xiangtong musical instruments) requires the orderly cooperation of multiple processes, such as material selection, smelting, production, molding, copying, scraping, and tuning. Each process has its own skills. Now, in addition to wood sawing, cutting, batching and other processes have been partially replaced by machinery, most of the processes such as woodworking, carving, painting and so on still need to be completed by hand.
