Introduction to Zuoquan Huahua tune:
Applicant: Zuoquan County, Shanxi Province
Zuoquan county is located on the west side of the main vein of Taihang Mountain and the eastern edge of Shanxi Province. It was called liaozhou and Liaoxian in ancient times. Later, it was changed to Zuoquan County in memory of the famous Anti Japanese general who died here. Zuoquan is rich in folk songs. According to the records of liaozhou, since the song and Yuan Dynasties, there have been local traditional customs of "making lantern festival", "making social fire" and "making prosperous". Through the continuous creation and inheritance of the people, a variety of folk music genres have been produced, such as folk song, ditty, Haozi, Divertimento, Xiaohua opera and CUDA, among which Huahua tune is the most representative. This kind of folk song belongs to "folk song style", because all lyrics take "Hua" as the center and "Hua Hua" as Bixing, so it is called Hua Hua tune. What's more unique is that the so-called "flower" includes not only the "flower" of plants, but also the "flower" of all kinds of daily utensils and articles, such as "the door is full of flowers, the door is full of brothers", "the glass is full of flowers, and I can see my parents from afar", "the oil lamp is full of flowers, and the wine cup is full of rice". These folk songs are ingenious in conception and novel in words, which are loved by the general public. In addition, the interlining words and sentences formed by the local dialects in the song can be called unique, such as "ah, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
Huahua tune is simple, affectionate and moving. Most of it is composed of two sentences echoing each other. The melody is mainly progressive seven tone scale, with occasional big jump sound pattern. It is used to express the ups and downs of emotions, greatly increasing the appeal of music.
Since the 1940s, musicians began to collect and record folk songs in Zuoquan. After more than half a century, more than 100 Huahua tunes have been collected, including "peach blossom red, apricot blossom white", "take your time when you have a mind", "meet brother", "gedanqin", "want to kiss brother", "land return home" and so on. Liu Gaiyu, Ji aifang and Shi Zhanming are all outstanding successors of Huahua tune.
Zuoquan folk songs, represented by huahuadiao, once declined in the 1970s and 1980s, resulting in ecological imbalance. Recently, with the joint efforts of the general public and government departments, the traditional song style has gradually recovered, and new successors have emerged one after another, which provides a good foundation for the protection and inheritance of folk song heritage.
