Fuxin City, Liaoning Province is one of the four agate producing areas in China, and its agate carving technology is well-known at home and abroad. Lotus cup, agate Tube Bead Necklace, wine cup and go unearthed from Liao tomb in Qinghemen, Fuxin, have a history of 1000 years. During the reign of Qianlong in Qing Dynasty, most of the materials and crafts of agate ornaments and carvings used by the court came from Fuxin. Nowadays, baozhuyingzi village, Qijiazi Township, Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County, is named after the local king's offering "Buddha agate beads" on Emperor Qianlong's 60th birthday.

Agate is a medium grade gem with a variety of natural colors and striped patterns. It is an ideal material for carving. Agate has the reputation of "jade gold". Its material itself has the function of collection, preservation and appreciation, and is regarded as the symbol of beauty, happiness, auspiciousness and wealth. To make an exquisite agate jade piece, there are seven processes: material selection, peeling, design, polishing, initial carving, fine carving and matching. Fuxin agate carving has a complete range of crafts, and the plain craft is in a leading position in the same industry. Among them, drilling and bore, chain taking and looping, shoulder and ear making, through carving and live ball, decorative carving and other skills are its unique skills. The Fuxin agate "water curtain cave", carved in 1974 under the instruction of Premier Zhou Enlai, is now in the National Museum of China.

Fuxin agate carving technology is mainly inherited through the family. The famous agate family in history has been passed down to the fourth generation. Master Li Hongbin, the representative of agate technology, is 67 years old now. While Fuxin agate carving has made brilliant achievements, it is facing the crisis of the loss of craftsmanship, which needs to be rescued and protected.
