Nanjing paper-cut is mainly popular in Nanjing and its surrounding areas in Jiangsu Province. According to historical records such as baixiasuoyan written by Gan Xi in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty, Nanjing paper-cut was very popular in the early Ming Dynasty. In the 1950s, Nanjing folk paper-cut production cooperatives and folk arts and crafts factories were established successively to produce and export paper-cut.

Nanjing paper-cut's personality is very prominent. It combines the extensive northern paper-cut with the delicate Southern paper-cut. There are flowers in the flowers, there are questions in the title, there are details in the rough, there are spirits in the clumsy, and the artistic form is very beautiful. The traditional varieties of paper-cut in Nanjing mainly include Xihua, douxianghua, menjian and embroidery patterns including shoe flower.
