Introduction to the Jockey Club (dangjiren Jockey Club)
Applicant: Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region
Horse racing, known as "Dajiu" in Tibetan, has a long history. It is an indispensable part of Tibetan traditional festivals and is welcomed by the masses of farmers and herdsmen. When the Jiren jockey club starts on July 10 of the Tibetan calendar every year, it lasts for three days and lasts for one month. During the three days of horse racing and archery, herdsmen dressed in festival costumes went to the party, and young people actively participated. They set up tents with exquisite designs, sang and danced, and chased lovers. Farmers and businessmen from all over Tibet also brought all kinds of agricultural and livestock products and daily necessities to trade here.
The competitors of Kirin Jockey Club are generally teenagers over 12 years old and under 20 years old. 20 winners will be awarded. Horse racing is divided into five categories: Qilin, Jiada, DUWA, MuQing and ruou. In the race, the horse is divided into running horse and running horse. In addition to the national traditional events such as horse racing and archery, horse picking up hada, horse racing and horse racing, the Jockey Club also has activities such as yak racing, Tibetan weightlifting, tug of war, Stone moving and Tibetan fashion show.
At present, dangjiren Jockey Club in Dangxiong county has become an important platform for Lhasa to attract investment, and has been given new cultural connotation. The development of the Jockey Club is of great significance to inherit and carry forward the excellent ethnic culture of Tibet and fill in the gap in the study of Tibetan ethnic horse racing.
With the improvement of the living standards of farmers and herdsmen, there are fewer and fewer specialized horse owners. In addition, the number of horse trainers has been high for many years, and the younger generation is unwilling to inherit this traditional technology. The traditional folk activity of dangjiren Jockey Club is facing the crisis of extinction, which needs urgent protection.
