Introduction to chaquan
Applicant: Guanxian County, Shandong Province
Chaquan originated in the Tang Dynasty. During the "an Shi rebellion" period, Tang Dynasty borrowed troops from Dashi country in the western regions to pacify the rebellion. The young general of Dashi country was injured in the battlefield and was taken good care of by the Muslim people in zhangyinzhuang village, Guanxian County, Shandong Province. After recovery, Hua zongqi felt that there was nothing to return, so he taught the villagers his boxing skill "shelf boxing". Because of many followers, Hua invited his elder martial brother, Cha Yuanyi, from Hami to teach his boxing skills. After the death of Zha and Hua, the local people called "shelf boxing" as "sliding boxing" and "body method and posture" as "chaquan" in memory of them. Since ancient times, "Cha and Hua are the same family", later generations will collectively refer to them as "Cha Hua Quan", or "Cha Quan" for short.
At that time, chaquan was mainly distributed in the West Street, South Street, zhangyinzhuang, Shilipu, shazhuang, Ligu and other Hui villages in Guanxian county. Later, it gradually spread to the Islamic people all over the country, and was known as "South boxing and North leg Shandong chaquan" in martial arts circles. After the founding of new China, the national barriers were broken and chaquan began to spread widely. It has become one of the famous martial arts schools with important influence and many practitioners in the country.
Through long-term development and evolution, about the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, chaquan formed two different technical schools in Guanxian County, Shandong Province, namely "Zhang style" and "Yang style". "Zhang style" boxing is fast, agile and rigorous, with Zhang Yinzhuang and Zhang Qiwei outside Guanxian as the representative. "Yang style" chaquan is easy to spread and full of momentum, represented by Yang Hongxiu, the South Street of Guanxian city. A number of martial arts masters emerged in both schools, such as Zhang Yingzhen, Wang Ziping, Zhang Xitai, Zhang Yingjian, Chang Zhenfang, Zhang Wenguang, Pang Lintai, etc., which made important contributions to the development of Chinese martial arts.
Chaquan is based on the spring leg. It includes ten ways of chaquan, as well as the practice of guns, sticks, knives, swords and other instruments. The movements are extended and the rhythm is bright. Chaquan has a broad mass base in the southwest of Shandong Province. It has spread to Shanghai, Jiangsu, Henan, Shanxi, Beijing, Yunnan and other places since modern times. The new Changquan routine and modern competitive Wushu developed in modern times use more material of chaquan and absorb the sport style of chaquan. It has contributed to the development of Chinese Wushu. Carrying forward chaquan is of great significance to the development of the national movement and the strengthening of the national physique.
With the overall decline of Wushu, the complete inheritance of chaquan has become difficult. It is urgent to rescue, organize and protect chaquan.
