Introduction to diabolo
Applicant: Xuanwu District, Beijing
Diabolo, made of bamboo and wood, is hollow, hence its name. In the Qing Dynasty, it was mixed with the hollow bell, commonly known as the ring gourd. In Jiangnan, it is also known as the pulling bell. It is most famous in Beijing and Tianjin.
Diabolo has a long history in China. In the Ming Dynasty, there are descriptions of its playing methods and making methods in a brief introduction to the scenery of the imperial capital. There are also cultural relics unearthed from the Ming Dingling Mausoleum as evidence. It can be seen that diabolo has been popular among the people for at least 600 years.
The diabolo is disc-shaped, with a wooden shaft in it. The bamboo rod is used to tie the rope around the wooden shaft, which is pulled and shaken. There are two kinds of Diabolo: single wheel (one end of the shaft is a disc) and double wheel (one end of the shaft is a disc). There are whistles around the disc, with a big whistle as the bass hole and a number of small whistles as the treble hole, which are divided into double, four, six, and even thirty-six. When pulling and shaking diabolo, each whistle sounds at the same time, high pitched and vigorous, and the sound enters the cloud surface.
Beijing diabolo has a long history, stable mass base, mature and complete technical skills, which is one of the most representative areas of Diabolo folk sports development and inheritance. There is a special non-governmental organization in Beijing, the professional committee of Diabolo of Beijing Toy Association. At present, it has nearly 100 members, including experts in diabolo shaking and diabolo making. There are also innovations in the inheritance of Diabolo shaking techniques, such as "golden rooster on the shelf", "mountain crossing", "weaving girl spinning", "night view of the Milky Way", "Erlang Dan mountain", "looking up at the moon", "carp swinging tail", "boy worshipping the moon", "kite turning over", "Caiyun chasing the moon", "fishing for the moon from the bottom of the sea", "Qingyun straight up", etc One end of the long rope is tied to the top of the tree and the other end is held by hand. Another person shakes an diabolo and quickly throws the flying diabolo to the long rope. The rope holder pulls the long rope hard and shakes the Diabolo to the air 50 or 60 meters high. When the Diabolo falls, the person who shakes the Diabolo catches it steadily, which makes the audience marvel.
Diabolo shaking is a sport completed by skillful coordination of limbs. When shaking diabolo with both hands to do all kinds of tricks, the shoulder joint, elbow joint and wrist joint of upper limb, the crotch joint, knee joint and ankle joint of lower limb, as well as the cervical spine and lumbar spine are moving in different degrees, so shaking diabolo is helpful to people's health.
With the rapid development of the city and the change of people's lifestyle, diabolo, as a witness of historical development and a way of inheriting folk culture, its existing cultural space is facing atrophy. Therefore, it is necessary for relevant departments to take various effective measures to protect it.
