Introduction to Pingxiang spring Gong
Applicant: Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province
Pingxiang spring Gong is popular in Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province and its surrounding areas. It evolved from primrose, which spread in the west of Jiangxi Province in the late Ming Dynasty. It has a history of more than 300 years.
The rhythm of Pingxiang spring Gong is bright, the language is witty, and it has the important performance characteristics of "seeing praise". There are two forms of singing: standing singing and walking singing. The singer is dressed in a yellow silk bag or cloth bag. A small drum with a diameter of about 20 cm is attached to his left abdomen. A gong of the same size is hung on the side of the drum. He holds a drum tag in his left hand and a hammer in his right hand. He beats from time to time as the interlude music for the passage of the first part of the song. After moving onto the stage, it developed from one person singing to duel singing and group singing, adding erhu, Sanxian, Pipa and other accompaniment instruments.
Traditional spring gongs often sing short songs, such as "praise spring", "praise wine", "enter the door", "drink tea", "texture", "send spring" and so on. In modern times, spring Gong artists began to sing long and medium-sized historical and mythological stories such as "Eight Immortals crossing the sea", "three marriages in Taoyuan" and "Xu Zhenjun cutting evil dragons". At present, Pingxiang spring gongs are lack of inheritors and are in urgent need of protection.
