Shandong kuaishu is a very typical form of Quyi storytelling in rhyme recitation performance. It is commonly known as "wulaoer" because it mainly performs Wusong story in the early stage, and Wusong has two lines. The artists are known as "wulaoer's" or "wulaoer's"; because the hero Wusong is tall and big, people also call the artists "big man's". Later, in different periods, this form of Quyi had the names of "bamboo fast book" and "funny fast book". In June 1949, artist Gao Yuanjun officially named it "Shandong express" when he made the record "Luda chuba" in Shanghai Great China Record factory.

Shandong express books are mainly popular in North China with Shandong as the center. There are many theories about its origin: one is the founding theory of Liu Maoji, the second is the founding theory of Shandong Dagu artist Fu Hanzhang in the reign of Daoguang in the Ming Dynasty, and the third is the founding theory of Zhao Dazhi, the frustrated scholar in the reign of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty. However, according to the inference of the artist's apprenticeship, the more credible theory is the theory of Fu Hanzhang's founding in the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty. After the founding of Shandong express, with the efforts of Zhao Zhen, Wei Yuhe, Wu Hongjun, Lu Tongwu, Lu Tongwen, Du Yongchun, Ma Yuheng, Qi Yongli, fan Yuande, Gao Yuanjun, Li Yuancai, Yang Lide, Liu Tongwu, Fu Yongchang and other artists of several generations, Shandong Express has developed into a major type of music that affects the whole North China and parts of East China. Especially in the mid-20th century, Gao Yuanjun joined the army's quyi performing group and trained a group of professional Shandong express script actors in the military system, which further expanded the spread of Shandong express script and spread its influence throughout most areas of the country. Liu Sichang, sun Zhenye and Gao jingzuo were influential actors in the middle and late 20th century, and some actresses also appeared. Among them, Gao Yuanjun and Yang Lide are the two most influential. The performances of Gao Yuanjun and his descendants are hot and funny, which is called "Gao Pai"; the performances of Yang Lide and his descendants are delicate and witty, which is called "Yang Pai".

The performance of Shandong kuaishu adopts Shandong dialect, with rhyme recitation as the main part and interlocution. Singing is a typical rhyme chanting style. In the early stage, it focused on "chanting", and later tended to "reciting on the board". There are so-called "Pingkou", "Qiaokou", "Guankou" and "sankou" in singing. The "baikou" used in narration can be divided into two parts: interpenetrating explanatory "confession" and interrupting "guokou". Libretto is a verse mainly composed of seven character sentences, which is colloquial and vivid.

The traditional watcher program of Shandong kuaishu is the long story of Wu Song, but the performance often selects the chapter or paragraph, such as Jingyanggang (also known as Wu Song Da Hu), shizipo, happy forest, naogongtang, etc. Since the mid-20th century, the theme of Shandong kuaishu has been expanding, and new programs have been appearing. The representative ones are "seizing yuanjiachengzi" and "fighting daigushan", which publicize the Anti Japanese War, "a truck of sorghum rice", "three chickens", "catching captives" and "scouts", which reflect the socialist construction and army life, "Qinghai Hao", "division commander's help kitchen" and "three chickens"《 Zhang Dafa's going to his mother's home, Li Sanbao's martial arts contest, golden mother's watching the house, etc.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, Shandong fast book artists are in short supply and need to be supported.
