Brief introduction of Tea Picking Opera (Fuzhou Tea Picking Opera)
Applicant: Linchuan District, Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province
Fuzhou tea picking opera is developed on the basis of Ming Dynasty tea lantern opera and local folk songs. According to Linchuan county annals, it has a history of more than 400 years.
Fuzhou tea picking opera originated from Folk Lantern song and dance. Influenced by Fuhe opera of Ming Dynasty and Huangmei Opera of Hubei Province, Fuzhou tea picking opera has vivid and humorous language, beautiful and lively music, simple action, singing and dancing, and strong local characteristics. There are more than 100 opera repertoires, including single stage Opera (one-man Opera), Zhezi opera, Daxi opera and liantai opera. Shantai opera inherits the original form of opera. Most of the small operas show the little people at the bottom, while most of the big operas show legends and myths.
Fuzhou tea picking opera has been handed down by folk artists. Nowadays, most of the old artists have died, and the professional troupes are aging, so the operas are in danger.
