Bacheng town
Bacheng town is a famous historical and cultural town in Jiangsu Province. It belongs to Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province. It has a history of 2500 years. It is adjacent to Shanghai in the East and Suzhou in the west, covering an area of 157 square kilometers. It has a subtropical monsoon humid climate with four distinct seasons, abundant sunlight, mild climate and long frost free period. The annual average temperature is 15.3 ℃, the annual average sunshine time is 2165 hours, 104963 people (2017).
In October 2018, it was selected as the "top 100 towns in China's comprehensive strength in 2018". In September 2018, it was selected into the list of demonstration construction of strong agricultural towns. In January 2019, it will be selected as the seventh batch of famous historical and cultural towns in China. On February 2, 2019, Kunqu opera was selected into the list of "hometown of Chinese folk culture and art" from 2018 to 2020. In 2018, the national health county (township) was reconfirmed. In October 2019, it was rated as one of the top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019.

In the second year of Yongzheng reign (1724 AD), Kunshan county was divided into DUBAO county and Xinyang County. Bacheng was changed into Xinyang County.
In the first year of Xuantong (1909 AD), Kunshan and Xinyang counties carried out local autonomy. In 1910, the capital protection system was abolished, and the township (city), district and map system was established. Bacheng was a township, with 7 districts and 26 maps under its jurisdiction.
In January 1912, the Republic of China was founded. Kunshan county was named after the merger of Kunshan county and Xinjiang county. Bacheng Township belongs to Kunshan county.
On August 15, 1930, the county was divided into 10 districts, 337 townships and 41 towns. Bacheng township was changed into ninth districts, and the whole house in Town God's Temple was converted into a district office.
In June of 1934, Kunshan county was divided into 8 autonomous regions, including 41 townships and 24 towns. Bacheng is changed into the eighth District, which governs three towns of Bacheng, Shipai and ZhouShu, and six townships of Beiliu, Huanhu, Xinwei, Santang, Weizhou and Wanxiang, with a total of 317lu and 1387 neighbors.
On January 10, 1935, the Baojia system was implemented in Kunshan county. There are 8 districts, 446 Baojia and 5359A. Bacheng is still the eighth District, and its jurisdiction remains unchanged. After the change of Lu Lin to Bao Jia, there are 74 Bao 789 Jia. On December 5, the county was rezoned into eight districts (Chengnei, penglang, Lujia, xidun, Bacheng, Yangxiang, Zhangpu, Zhengyi). The eighth district is Bacheng district.
In September 1943, Kunshan county was divided into 8 districts and 64 townships. The former Bacheng and ZhouShu districts are merged into the eighth District, which governs three towns of Bacheng, Shipai and ZhouShu, and six townships of Beiliu, Huanhu, Santang, Wanxiang, Xinxu and Weizhou.
In February 1947, the jurisdiction of Bacheng was adjusted. On the basis of the original three towns and six townships in September 1945, four townships including Xinzhen, Beiyu, Qingdun and Hanpu were added. On December 15, Kunshan county was rezoned into one town and 26 townships, and Bacheng township was changed into Bacheng Township according to the regulations of Jiangsu province that more than 5000 households can be a town.
On May 3, 1949, a battalion of the 26th army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army entered Baicheng and declared its liberation. On the 14th, the people's Government of Baicheng District announced its establishment.
In November 1949, Bacheng District governed three townships of Bacheng, Santang and Chengbei. The two townships of Jinji and ZhouShu under the original jurisdiction were divided into ZhouShu district.
In January 1950, the Baojia system was abolished and the village government was established. There are 119 villages below the township level, with village administration committees and administrative groups.
On June 1, 1951, the county readjusted its division. The two townships of Dayu and Guangfu in the suburbs of the original city, Huangni Township in Zhengyi District, and Shipai Township and xiangdai Township in Changshu county were all included in the Bacheng district. Baicheng district has jurisdiction over 14 townships (including Baicheng).
In October 1958, the township was removed and the people's commune was established.
In February 1959, the Rongting brigade was assigned to the county farm.
In April 1968, the Revolutionary Committee of Zhengyi commune was established.
In June 1983, the government and the commune were separated, the commune management committee was abolished, and the Township People's government was established. The organizational system of the brigade was abolished and the village committee was established.
In June 1988, the township system was withdrawn and the people's Government of Zhengyi town was established.
On December 20, 2003, with the approval of Jiangsu Provincial People's government, the organizational system of Bacheng Town, Shipai town and Zhengyi town was abolished. The former administrative region of Bacheng town and Shipai town and the area north of loujiang in Zhengyi town were merged to establish xinbacheng town. The town government is located in Bacheng market town. It belongs to Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province.

Bacheng is located in the low-lying polder area to the east of Taihu Lake. Ancient wells, stone tools, pottery, streets and other relics have been found in the lakes and rivers of Longtan Lake and wuchengtan lake. It shows that Bacheng area formed land earlier, and its evolution process is continental → neotectonic movement subsidence, flood submergence → mud and sand accumulation, regression into land → part of land subsidence, rising and falling again, from meadow soil environment to soil environment“ The water town will make the country prosperous. After a long process of sediment deposition and water wave erosion, it has become a geographical environment with many lakes, rivers and lakes, and ponds. In the west of the town, there are Yangcheng Lake, puppet lake and eel lake. In the north, there are Bacheng lake and Chicheng lake, which are connected by five lakes. In the East, there are many rivers, such as Zhangjiagang, yanglintang, chichengtang, maoshatang, Gutang River, Xintang River, etc. Many rivers and lakes divide the land into many dished basins with high outer edge and low middle. The average elevation (Wusong base level, the same below) is 3.4 meters. The highest elevation is 4.5 meters in Beitan, Donghe and other villages in the northwest, and the lowest elevation is 2.2 meters in Hongyao, Yangjia and other villages in the southeast. The terrain is inclined from west to East with small natural slope.
Before 2003, the total area was 53.66 square kilometers, about 80490 mu, and the water area was 23529 mu, accounting for 29.23% of the total area, belonging to Yangcheng Lake Group. The total terrain is higher in the north and South and lower in the middle.
