geographical position
Location context
Hengjing street is 18 kilometers southwest of Suzhou City, with Yaofeng mountain in the north, Taihu Lake in the southeast, and Yuexi, Mudu, Xukou and puzhuang towns in the northeast, northwest and West.
Hengjing street is located between 31 ° 6 ′ - 12 ′ N and 120 ° 31 ′ - 33 ′ E. The maximum distance between East and west of the street is 7 km, and the maximum distance between North and south is 12 km. It covers an area of 55.23 square kilometers
topographic features
Hengjing street is located in the east of Taihu Lake, narrow in the north and broad in the south. There are mountains and water in the territory, which incline slightly from northwest to Southeast, with obvious difference in topography and geomorphology. It transits from mountain to plain and from flat to polder. The water network is dense in the South and sparse in the north. In the 1980s, the layout of water network has changed since the artificial excavation of river channel.
Yaofeng mountain is the southern branch of Qizi mountain (also known as Hengshan Mountain). It is a quartz sandstone low mountain. The mountain range runs from west to South and East. It is located at the southern end. The top of the mountain is a ridge shaped strip with a peak height of 224 meters and the height of Kuanling (commonly known as yataling) is 206 meters. There are more than 10 large and small mountain docks in Yaofeng mountain (Majia, Yaonan, Wangshan administrative village). Due to the erosion of the mountain by running water, the valley is formed, and thick alluvium is accumulated at the bottom of the valley, forming a wide and flat valley with a slightly outward dip, and the depth is about 30-250 meters. The dock bottom of Xuejiawan in Wangshan administrative village is about 220 meters long, with an inclination of more than 5 degrees.
The territory belongs to the plain of lakeside water network, starting from the boundary of Wuyang Bay in the East, 25 km from dachaokou in the west, linghuzui in the west, and 20 km from linghuzui to Xushan (Qingming mountain) in the north, which is equivalent to the territory of Jindu village, puzhuang town and Hengjing town.
hydrology
There are two kinds of rivers in HENGJING Town: natural river and artificial river. Because the terrain inclines slightly from northwest to Southeast, the river flows into Taihu Lake from hengjingtang River, xuanmaqiao port, niuyaojing, shilubang, yaotaihu lake, suwang River, Jingxin River, Qianzhuang port, Lindu port, Shuangdun port, Shajing port and Zhangjiabang. The river network system formed by rivers in the area plays the role of water diversion, storage, irrigation, drainage and huff and puff.
Hengjingtang River, also known as hengjintang, is more than 10 kilometers long. According to hengjinzhi of the Qing Dynasty, its water comes from three sources: "huangyangwan in the south, daciao in the southwest, and Huangshu port in the West. All of them are stored in Huanglong port by Taihu Lake water. From cailianjing to puzhuang, they pass Hengjin town in the East and Baiyangwan in the East. They are called hengjintang.". It flows through the territory for 4.4 kilometers and is called Su (Zhou) Dong (Shan) river. Huangyangwan, dakiao, huangshugang and cailianjing are all in Jindu village.
Climatic characteristics
Hengjing town belongs to the humid monsoon climate type in the north subtropical zone.
